My 2003 Mini Cooper, dark green, was stolen last night between the hours of 2am-430am, from 4210 SW Admiral Way. It was parked in one of the covered parking spaces in front of the dry cleaner's, directly across the street from Jack in the Box. The car has vanity plates reading TRICKI, as well as several identifying stickers: Feedback Lounge sticker on the gas tank, a red Pearl Jam stickman on the back windshield as well as Pearl Jam and Sleater Kinney stickers on the back panel. If anyone sees or hears anything that could help in recovering the vehicle please contact Jen by email westcoastjen8@aol.com. THANK YOU!

jen: Sorry to hear this. I hope it is recovered.
I thought engine immobilizers (ignition kill switches) were standard on 2003 Mini Coopers. Did the thief by any chance have a key?

CJ- they are. They will not start without the chip in the key. I verified this by taking my chip out and leaving on the kitchen counter and then trying to start my '02 Cooper in the garage. Key turns, lights come on, engine does not start.
Jen- Sorry to hear that TRICKI has disappeared. I'll re-post your post on both the PSMINI and SSMINI forums so that other MINI owners in the area can be on the lookout for it. I've seen it around, and it is a sharp looking little car.

I once thought my car had been stolen, but actually it had been towed. Sometimes you have to call multiple towing companies to figure out which one. Unless it was parked in your own space, of course...

Jen- if they needed a special key, do you have any idea how they got it? My friend's home was broken into and, she didn't know it, but they stole a spare key. Month's later the theif came back and stole the car with the spare key.

Do you mean the pull in area that belongs to that group training gym? Those aren't public parking, so I'm with the folks that think you likely were towed.
Try checking with ABC Towing - (206) 682-2869, I think they do the SDOT towing for this area.

There is no way they could have a key to the car, have the only two keys...According to police there has been a rise in auto theft, some is believed to be gang-related (initiations and such)...I have no idea how they did it (master key maybe?)but there was no glass and it was done quickly and quietly, so they definitely knew what they were doing!
Definitely was not towed, tow records and lots have been checked and re-checked. Still no leads... Very, very sad :(

My sympathies Jen -- I had a 1996 BMW M3 stolen from in from of my house in the early aughts (which was partially my fault). So keep the faith and maybe it will show up soon.
