mypatience1978ParticipantMy daughter started in spot 11 on the wait list for Stem K-8. She is currently in spot 5. As the start of school is getting closer, I am wondering if she still has the potential to get into Stem. She was bullied at her school last year and I will absolutely not send her back to that school and according to enrollment, there is no openings in West Seattle as of now. I am still holding hope that she will get into Stem, but have never dealt with SPS waiting lists before. Any advice or info would be great!

BonnieParticipantThere is a chance and they hold the waitlists until October 1st. There might be people who decide once schools starts on Sept 9th (or later if they go on strike!) that they will stay where they started and give up their spot when it comes up. Hopefully that will work in your favor. Good luck! I hope she gets in.
editing to add maybe you can call the STEM Principal?

HMC RichParticipantYou will have to wait and see if others give up their spots. The principal will not make exceptions. He is very good and would empathize with your situation but he will not bend the rules. And I know of others with siblings that cannot jump the waiting list. Our son was once at number 5 the first year and did get in. If Arbor Heights was not in the same building as STEM I would GUESS you would have had a better chance. Space is at a premium due to their presence. I do hope your child does get in. STEM has a very nurturing community. Not perfect but very kind.

BonnieParticipantI just somehow clicked on my profile and saw this link. Did you end up getting in?

mypatience1978ParticipantYes she did!!! She made it in about a week after school started! It has been beyond amazing already for her and we couldn’t be more happy!
