Looking for local splash pads to take the kids (age 5 and almost 2yrs) to in this gorgeous weather. We've been playing with the kiddie pool and water table in our own yard, but it's fun to mix things up a bit and get out amongst the people.
We're headed to Grass Lawn Park in Redmond this evening, since they have a great playground set-up, but I figured I'd see what additional recommendations others had, especially if there are any such areas in our own hood.

Pratt Park has a nice water spray area

The park also has swings, climbing structures and restaurants nearby.
There's also a new water spray park over by Crossroads mall in Bellevue but I haven't checked that out.

There is a great public pool/mini waterpark in Renton. I can't remember the name but if you google Renton Waterpark you will get all the info. They even have a small "wave pool" and some fun slides. Your kids are the perfect age for it!

add - Is it the Henry Moses Aquatic Center? That looks like fun, thanks! We'll have to check it out once they've opened for the season.
Went to Grass Lawn last night, but didn't get the play in the water. Kind of bummed that I called the parks department ahead of time to specifically confirm the splash pad was running, only to make the trek all the way out and find that it was completely fenced off and not in use. Had a nice picnic and played in the grass anyway, so it wasn't a complete bust. But we'll check out a different one tonight.
Henry Moses rocks. Doesn't open till June 20th, though. We will be there with bells on. Water slide, "lazy river," wave pool, splash wading pool, full-size/depth swimming pool. Do note for the future, the city is going to convert a few wading pools to spray features with money from last year's Parks Levy, and there's talk Delridge may be one of them. Oh by the way - have you gone to the International Fountain in Seattle Center? The BEST splash feature ever. Runs almost year round. You can't really just send a little person down by him/herself but you can stand there with them and get splashed like crazy. That is REALLY "out there" with the people. And a smaller fountain/wading pool nearby - on the north side of KeyArena - directly west of where the International Fountain is - that one IS a little mellower and more suitable for families.
Yes Henry Moses Aquatic Center - great place! They do have an interesting system, though, so check it out before going. They have two sessions scheduled and you must clear out after the first one and get back in line if you want to stay longer. Apparently the lines can get pretty long and they have a certain number of people they let in before closing it off. We only went one time, but I was very impressed - clean, fun, well laid out, and good snack bar!
TR, I forgot to mention the Fountain at Seattle Center, too. That's a fun day out!

The Seattle Center is great for a "whole day" experience. Checking out the Children's Museum, getting food, and then hitting the Foutain gets the kiddies really tired out...so the adults have a nice, quiet night as well. ;-)

The Seattle Center *is* a great suggestion for a whole day experience. We've been to the fountain a handful of times, and love it. I haven't taken my youngest yet, though I'm sure he'll have fun with it. Lately we've been going to the Bellevue Crossroads Water Spray Playground, and really enjoy it.

Thought I'd bump this back to the forefront, with this stretch of sunny, hot weather we have ahead of us. If anyone has any additional suggestions, or updates (closures, etc.) on the afore-mentioned places, bring 'em on!
while taking a short cut (read, WRONG turn!) the other day, I drove by the Tukwila Community Center and noticed it looks like they have a public water play area. I've been meaning to check out the details but haven't had time yet.
Thanks for bringing this thread back, since the little one is now mobile I've been looking for some water-based activities besides the local wading pools.
Tukwila Community Center does indeed have a spray park - very fun! With a grassy area to sit and picnic near by.
Burien apparently just opened a new spray 'feature' hesitate to call it a 'park' near the new library.
Ballard also has a spray park of sorts in the Ballard Commons http://www.ci.seattle.wa.us/Parks/wadingpools_detail.asp?id=4278
So we went to the Tukwila Spray Park today -- and like MargL said it is very fun! My girls LOVED it and even at 90+ degrees it was crowded but not TOO crowded... wasn't quite enough shade though around the spray area but we didn't stay long.
We will be back frequently!
