   I am looking for South American food choices for a potluck tonight. I believe there was an Ecuadorian restaurant in White Center but it's closed. ? Are there other choices in the area? Peruvian maybe? Thanks. ~z

   I'll 2nd Salvadorean bakery, however El Salvador is not in South America.

   No, El Salvador's not in South America, but Central America is very close... I think that's why MargL asked if Salvadorean would "do," i.e., suffice, be close enough, etc. :-)

   Indeed - I _did_ look at a map tho' I didn't go as far as to read the all the Wikipedia articles on El Salvador, Ecuador, and Peru to see what the significant differences in cuisine are between Central American and South American countries... :-)

   Burien has a South American restaurant, but I'm not sure what country. It is on 153rd, about the 2 or 300 block on the south side of the street.

   Yes, Austin. I realized that El Salvador was not in South America, but the menu looked pretty interesting and White Center is closer than driving to Ballard where the Peruvian Cafe is. http://www.cafecuzco.com/

   Peruvian or Ecuadorian would be my first choice if nearby. ~z

   I was disappointed to see the Peruvian restauarant close on Ambaum Way. A few years ago it got a favorable mention in Sunset Magazine. I would be keenly interested Zephyr, if you (or anyone else) tries the restaurant in Burien.

    That Peruvian place in the old Wendy's on Ambaum was a weird little place. We went in there once - not long after their grand opening on a Saturday afternoon. Can't remember what I ordered except it wasn't very warm and had a hair in it.
    Then the afternoon entertainment arrived, an jazz-keyboard lounge act. Didn't know those were so popular in Peru.

    A really easy dish from Ecuador (street food) is llapingachos: basically potato pancakes with a peanut sauce! I'm sure the recipe's all over the Web.
