  4. Winter Driving Safety Tips

    1) Before leaving home, check to see whether your car is a convertible with the top down.

  5. 2) Make sure to run the engine at least once every five years.

If it seems to be running rough, check under the hood and remove any squirrels.

Dang, I *told* my wife to put the top up ... oh, wait, I don't have a wife ...

The squirrels are the only moving parts in the engine ...

Wait, I got it -- this is the best luxury foreign car newly non-unionized teachers in Wisconsin will be able to afford next year!! Yeah, that's the ticket!

  7. Upon checking with the City, I discovered why the car has not been towed. It seems that it's some kind of a Historic Landmark and cannot be moved or altered in any way.

Here's the story I got via e-mail from Seattle's Official City Historian, Theophilus J. Oates:

In October of 1962 a Canadian expedition under the command of Ernest "Nastie" Spatula struck out from Vancouver in search of an overland route to Portland. In late November, just as the turkey was starting to thaw, the expedition was trapped by a freak snow storm near South Delridge Bay.

Abandoning their vehicle (a 1957 International Harvester "Chuffy"), the small party made their way across the ice-bound streets to White Center, where they hunkered down and waited for conditions to improve.

Tragically, conditions never did improve, and after nearly half a century, the town of White Center, along with the slowly decaying hulk of the Chuffy, are both still there.

  12. I think the snow offered a cosmetic advantage. You can actually see it on Google Earth, on the east side of the street. A derelict it is for sure...

  14. I think the snow offered a cosmetic advantage.

—It offered the SWiWS Team the advantage of camouflage, as well.

And they can't say we Photoshopped it!

My guess. A 1962 Volkswagen Beetle. Old style covered headlights. The turn signals are not amber colored, which generally means pre-1963.

A whopping 40 BHP (braking horsepower).
