socially irresponsible driver

  1. Goodmorning- at least mine was until a driver at jefferson square parking lot scraped my red ford expedition around 9:30 or 10:00 am on Sunday July 17th. Did not notice this until I got home. It wasn't there yesterday and I didn't go anywhere else this a.m. I now have some nice big scrapes on my right front side. I do not understand how you at the very least didn't even have the guts to leave an apology note. You are a socially irresponsible driver and I can only hope that you are driving around with a nice red paint residue on your car that shows your guilt since you wouldn't own up to it yourself. Have a nice day!

    Worst. Parking lot. Ever.

The driver was probably in a big hurry to get to church.

Why i Jefferson Square such a lousy parking spot? The building codes were designed to DISCOURAGE gas hogs like the Ford Expedition. In the infinite wisdom of the city, and the influence peddling of developers.. the developers could meet the number of parking spaces required on less real estate..by making them narrow and small. The "greenies" at city hall thought ... perfect... if we make em' small, the spaces will magically fill with itty bitty, 54 mpg roller skates...and Gas Pigs like Chevy Suburbans, Ford Expeditions, et al would disappear overnight. ... the irony of it is.. YOU are tagged by code officials for driving a road pig...as the socially irresponsible driver . The city does not want you to drive gas guzzlers... and if the price is some paint scrapes and damage... they are pretty much ok with that. If I have to run an errand with my work truck... I park it diagonally, taking two spaces... hoping not to get "keyed" in revenge... but mostly I drive the compact car to Jefferson Square or park on the street. Complain to Safeway and the merchants...tell them you won't shop there until they widen the spaces. You are not alone that is for sure. My favorite... a Ford full size van in front of Hotwire with "Boycott BP", and few other save the whale stickers.... on a 16 mpg gas hog...

  4. kootchman..
it is not ok to sideswipe someone's vehicle and drive away without leaving so much as a note no matter how large that vehicle is...

Didn't say it was... I would be mightily pissed off myself... however... if ya have a size 10 foot and love those size 8 shoes...something will go wrong if ya buy em'. The parking lot is not designed for large vehicles and if ya force fit one in a space for a compact car.. the outcome is pretty musch assured..

I have had this happen to my little Honda accord. Doesn't matter the size of the car if the driver who hits you doesn't care.

  7. At that time of the morning there was plenty of space to park for all. There was no excuse for what happened...

Ugh.... makes ya want to go to a Mad Max welding shop and make sheet metal tearing extensions on the nerf bars ..or at least having the fantasy of doing so. I try to park on the street .... whatta drag.

  9. Kootch...just another example of blaming the victim. I f the OP had said they were driving a mini Cooper, would your response have been different? The size of the car makes no matter..if you're sideswiped in a hit and run, it's wrong...period...no matter where you are.

JanS....you do so love victimology. I said.. building codes create small parking spaces and having attended numerous meetings where the respective parties decided to allow these...summarized the reasons..force the public to smaller cars and increase developer profits..... 2. That makes scrapes and dents more likely. 3. That was known before the parking space variances were granted. 4. I offered two optional strategies to minimize the chance...and finally offered my sympathies with a touch of sarcasm.... from that you got "blaming the victim"....? Ugh and wadda drag are expressions of empathy.

  11. I calls 'em as I see 'em ;-)

I'll paraphrase what I heard (and apologies if I misunderstood). " well, now, here's your problem. You have no business parking that huge gas guzzler in that parking lot. They designed it to get you to drive a smaller car" Then when you were "corrected", you modified a bit - lol. There was no need for that at all....simply saying ," I'm sorry , that lot is just terrible", would have sufficed :)

Of course, I no longer have a car, so I avoid that lot all the time ;-)
