Hi everyone. I have some cast iron stair rails that need to be drilled and tapped. Drilling is not the problem we are having no luck tapping on our own. We have the needed tap, but no drill press and are hesitant to make any further mistakes.

Know who could help us cheaply, can you help?

    Thank you kindly.

Clark its true that OIL helps but a drill motor w/ a tap chucked in it often works on steel.. it is much more prone to binding & snapping the bit in Cast iron..allways use oil or tapping fluid (rapid tap ) what I ??? was using a drill PRESS?
Kinda cumbersome for hand rails. A tap handle is simple & easy to control. Greg
