I have a minature 7 y.o.Schnauzer who has Addison's disease. It affects the adrenal glands. He has been newly diagnosed with Diabetes, and will need blood work and twice daily shots of insulin.

As a senior on a limited income, I won't be able to provide all the medical care/meds he is going to need. I can handle some costs, but not all of them. Especially the lab tests etc. Does anyone know of an organization that would help with such needs?

If I can't find a solution, it will break my heart but I will need to put him to sleep.

Thank you for any info you can provide.

  3. katydid, I would contact the Furry Faces Foundation - http://furryfaces.org/about_us - it sounds as if one of their funds was set up to help people in your situation, or they can direct you to someone else who can if they can't. Alternatively, they can probably also find someone to take your dog to care for him as opposed to putting him down. I'm sorry your baby is sick and that you're dealing with such difficult decisions. Hopefully F3 can help in some way.

Thank you, Sue and TDe. I just tried Furry Faces, but no one answered phone, so I left a message. Scruffy and I both thank you for your caring and sharing of information.

    Hi Katydid,

Thank you for contacting us. Haven't listened to your voice yet, however, it's lunchtime, so checking WSB, email and hopefully will get to phone messages before my lunch hour is over.

If you have email, would you please email us at furryfaces@hotmail.com and provide the following info:
    1) The Name of your animal hospital
    2) An approxiate $$'s per month that your Vet believes it will cost to care for your furry friend

We can provide some financial assistance, and will also give you some other resources that assist seniors on limited income with their pets.

Looking forward to recieving the above info. Woofs and Meows, F3 206-321-4729
