Les Paul died today. He is the inventor of modern music. The electric solid body guitar, multi-track recording, phasers, and that geegaw that holds a harmonica around your neck, all Les Paul.

I think Jimmy Page played with a Les Paul guitar through his career. I remember reading an article were he said it was a "heavy buggah to carry and play at the same time" which is why he had it almost down to his knees.

How sad. :-(
Les was an amazingly talented musician, who seemed to be before his time.

We were lucky enough to see him play just last year at one of the small clubs in NYC. Dinner and a show. It was great!

RIP Les, for sure! I think it was Les who broke his arm once and had it set so he could still play guitar.

Tammi, I envy you -- I saw him play about 15 years ago in Cambridge -- a Monday night at a local club and the audience seemed to consist of me (the charla half) and all of the famous and not so famous guitar players of the Boston area. They talked shop and I sat in awe and listened. He respected every kind of music and all kinds of musicians respected him. When I get home tonight, Les Paul and * will be playing in nonstop rotation on my Ipod. If you haven't heard him with Mark Knofler, what are you waiting for?

The Wizard of Waukesha! Perhaps Les is playing a diddy while Hussein prepares "something special" for him! We can only hope. RIP to 2 lovely, talented men!
