Retaining wall needed

  1. Our yard sits above the neighbors' and is starting to find its way into their yard. In the past the rock wall has simply been rebuilt, dirt replaced, etc. This time I'd like to have a permanent solution (concrete wall with drainage, perhaps).

    I'm not really sure what type of contractor does this specific type of work. Is it concrete people? Landscape people? Would appreciate some help and recommendations.

    Thanks all!

    I just got a bid for removal of exsisting wall and replacement by Greg’s Concrete Construction - his bid seems reasonable and we will most likely be moving ahead with the project. http://www.gregsconcrete.com - he is licensed and specializes in concrete which is what I like.
    Good luck.

  4. You might want to touch base with TJW Construction, Inc. 206-938-2010. They do great work and are a West Seattle company. TJWconstruction@mac.com

    When we needed our driveway, retaining walls and sidewalk rebuilt we used Bryant Concrete. Not sure how they stack up to others with their pricing but his customer service skills and the speed with which he did the job were great. And he checks back with us every so often to make sure things are still good.

  6. Retaining walls are tricky as you have found out with your rock wall. Get a few quotes and ask questions. Such as;

    How thick at the base? How will you re-enforce it? How will you keep water away? Who will excavate?

    I have used Tom Smith at Concrete Partners before, he does great work, specializes in retaining walls and is priced well. He is also well versed in Seattle code...
