Best of the night...watching Perry try to drum up support for sending troops to BACK into Iraq...
Can't the moderator just step in and say "Please exit the stage left Mr. Perry"...
The man is lost in la la land...anyone that accused him of being "Bush on Steroids" or "Bush... but Smarter"...suggest re-thinking that. He's done anyway...
Nice tour of the country though on the donation dime.

funniest quote resulting from the NH Election:
"Tonight we made history," Romney told cheering supporters before pivoting to a stinging denunciation of President Barack Obama. "The middle class has been crushed ... our debt is too high and our opportunities too few ..."
So apparently, 8 years of the economic policies of Bush the Incompetent, the first six of which included a Republican-controlled Congress and the first bailout bill, had no lasting effect of our economy ... but, in three years, Obama has managed to crush the middle class. Wow. Revisionist history at its best. Or worst.

metrognome: but according to willard, it's not obama's fault.
obama just made the recession longer and deeper because of his ineptitude as a businessman.
and willard knows a thing or two about successful business: wage-cutting and profit-taking should be the model for government of over 300 million people. right?
he and other republicans keep invoking the memory of that great economic conservative, ronald wilson reagan - who racked up more long-tern debt than all presidents before him combined and who helped coin the term "deficit spending." he also started the great flattening of working-class wages and the gutting of personal savings. and he was the first presidential candidate to utter ill will against the united states government, implying that it is somehow as bad as stalinist russia's.
and that's exactly where republicans would take us back to[sic].
do we really trust any of them to lead a government that they despise so badly and so openly?

The double standard that Romney is asking for...
Please guys...come on guys...don't bash me when we're in the same party....we are unified together guys...one goal...one purpose...we need to get Obama out of the White House!...oh...and by that I mean...start rebuilding America...
I hate the over simplistic rhetoric standing there having the gaul to continue to blame one man for not correcting America's issues in 3 years....and The People are soaking him up. And Santorum is going to be the VP candidate...watch.
Any candidate that steps up with a plan...a documented plan with graphs and charts and proof..they have my vote.
Oh..wait...Ross Perot...? ;)
Were it not for the sleepy Admiral...

redblack.. funny guy..you don't have the numbers right yet. RR raised revenue more than any Prez in US History... next, was JFK.. and they both did it on tax cuts. Obama will take the unchallenged title of presiding over the most rapid drop in revenues and the largest increase in deficits in US history. Santorum as VP? No,won't happen. I believe Rubio has sent his application in. It isn't one man, but when ya ask for the bully pulpit and all you do is a third act of a second rate play.. eventually the critics catch on. The record will unfold, the measure taken of just what his president has done. No one can possibly say he did a good job. He rewarded political cronies, defied the national sentiment, and is driving us to fiscal disaster. More of the same? He didn't undertake reform measures, attempt to stem special interest influences..quite the opposite, he embraced the system and expanded it with breathtaking consequences. Now he is trying to sell 8% unemployment as the new normal. Remember? HE is the one that said if unemployment was over 8% he would take the blame and he would be responsible?!!
Love this one.... this is where the Obama administration goes for financial help !!! Uh huh! "The first guy I called was John Corzine".... ha ha ha... and many like him too!

reagan raised revenues. riiiiight. the trickle-down theory of greater revenue = bigger government budgets:
FAIL.
no, worse! when comparing GDP to the federal budget, it's an outright lie. yes. i said it: reagan was a liar, he knew it, and you all bought it. raise the GDP, cut the federal budget. "look! the federal budget is bigger than it's ever been!" uhh. yeah. the GDP is six times bigger. the federal budget is 10% bigger. and you thought we wouldn't notice.
proof? ask yourself who has the cash and who has the debt.
any other argument is disingenuous.

Just to be clear on one thing - Reagan did increase revenues:

Posted 4 months ago # -
He sure did, right in line with every other president
40-year avg 18.1% Reagan 18.2%
He also raised gov't spending!
22.4% of GDP vs the 40 year avg of 20.7%

Glad we agree that tax rates can be lowered and tax revenues can still increase.
Didn't want there to be any confusion.
Carry on.

smitty...
do you really think the Reagan years show a correlation is between lowering taxes and raising revenue?
context Smitty.. context.
Posted 4 months ago # -
Correction. Lowering tax RATES and increasing tax REVENUES.
Some people confuse rates and revenues.
Posted 4 months ago # -
I'm sure you are aware that Reagan then raised taxes 11 times after the initial tax cut.

Yes, thank you. After the initial cuts reduced rates and increased revenues.

Obama's Economic Malpractice. After three years the country should have been doing better. It is not. This article shows the failure of the Socialist in Chief's failed economics plan. Historically, it shows how long recessions usually last among other interesting tidbits.
PS... Reagan agreed to the tax hikes because Democrats (and Republicans) in the House and Senate said they would curtail their spending. They did not. Reagan always regretted that. You libs take credit for Clinton erasing the debt and do not give credit to Newt and the House and Senate, but then you do a 180 with Reagan and ignore the House and Senate with him. That is typical. Consistently inconsistent in your arguments.
Oh yes, Ronnie made some mistakes but let us not forget that Hope was reborn. Morning In America.

HMCRich...
so now the financial crisis triggered during the Bush administration is now just a recession.. like any other.. that Obama should have been able to bail us out of.. without the aid of congress?
if you believe that i know where i can find you a very good deal on a bridge...
btw.. that recession you speak of? only for some of us. CEO pay rose about 35% last year (or maybe the year before).

Funny to accuse "libs" of glorifying the Clinton presidency and then say "let us not forget that Hope was reborn. Morning In America."
Just saying..
