   The ring that the colander stands on has separated from the bottom of the bowl. I'd like to find a shop or someone that could weld it back on for me. Thanks!

   Any welding shop (there is one in White Center on 15th near McLendons) should be able to weld it for you but it may cost almost what a new one would cost

   Clark is right. Most welders are going to charge $50 - 100 per hour, and most with a half hour minimum.

   Unless this colander has some sort of sentimental value to you, you will be best to search for a new one. Don't rule the present one out as a gift to the folks at Nickelsville!

   Sur La Table, Dick's Restaurant Supply, City Kitchens, and locally, JF Henry would be my suggestions.
   .
   And SAVE your receipt! A quality colander should last a lifetime!

   Thanks for the tips! I have had this one, ohh about 30 years, but its really like new, well except for the detached ring/stand.. :)

   Or, you could try JB weld (which is epoxy with metal shavings in it) or drilling some neat holes and using some 4-40 or maybe even
   2-56 stainless steel screws/nuts to hold it back together. The screws/nuts idea can be done well enough to look like it came from the factory that way. so bring it in (to McLendon's, of course, where they have both of these items) and see what they suggest. I used stainless steel 4-40 bolts/nuts to replace the "legs" on my inside-the-saucepan vegetable steamer thing when they fell out and it's better than new!

   When the ring came loose on my metal colander, I bought a big round cookie cutter used that as a stand...the one I bought had a rubber hand guard around the top, so it gripped the sides of the colander pretty well. Might be cheaper/easier than trying to repair or replace it.

   So many creative ideas on how to fix this. I love it! Thanks for all the suggestions, since I haven't gotten around to going to McLendon's yet, I may just stop by the Fixer's Collective.

    Huge RAVE and Thanks to the West Seattle Tool Library and Greg for helping me fix my colander.

    They have a rivet tool and I picked up some rivets at McLendon's and voila its functional again.
