Their pizza is wonderful and their SPUMONI ICE CREAM is beyond incredulous (they make it themselves). Limited time before relocation, present building sold by owner.
ahmom, last time I was in (a couple weeks ago) the owner told me there is no plan to reopen at a new location – in fact, quite the opposite, she seems quite done with the whole thing. Sad for us local patrons but she did look pretty beat and I can’t blame her.
I’m hoping another site opens up for them. Truly, IMO, they have been a bright spot in the local business scene. Delivering high-quality food out of a small site, and knowing it’s a local family, really it’s a big loss for the community.
They didn’t reply to my last inquiry about whether they’ve found a new place, which they were hoping to when they first contacted us about losing their lease. Anyway, in the meantime, they have been tweeting when they are open (though I don’t see a tweet from today). Even if you do not have a Twitter account, you should be able to see their most recent updates: http://twitter.com/redstarpizza
I will be very sad to lose their $3.99 personal pizzas. I loved them and they are just the right size for a great price. I’ve no doubt that the business owner looks tired. Running a small family business in this city is daunting on the best of days. We will miss you Red Star. And… if you decide in the future to re-open again, I will be at your door, ready to order. Thanks for all the good years of good food!
