A few weeks ago I somehow managed to surf to a documentary on Temple Grandin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46ycu3JFRrA (I believe it's in 5 parts).
I can't stop thinking about how inspirational she is so thought I'd share. I've found many don't have a clue about her, whereas others, like my son, know all about her. No one told me!
Anyway, I'd seen this strange, quirky woman (man?) passing through on a few animal shows I'd viewed and always was like, "Who the heck is that oddball? What's her deal? Etc." Now I know and am totally smitten.
Following the documentary I watched the movie about her (Claire Danes plays her), also available for some reason in full on YouTube. And then I watched a few of her lectures and Q&As, also on YouTube. Suddenly, she became the most commonsense human in the world.
One note of caution: Her profession involves the meat industry, so if you object to carnivorism, you might not be so in awe. Don't want to offend anyone by leading him/her unwittingly into that world.
