Rave: Seattle Yarn

  1. Huge rave for Seattle Yarn - I just learned to knit and they have been SO helpful - and their yarn selection is out of this world!

awesome I can't wait to check them out. I haven't knit anything in a year or so and am really looking forward to getting back to it this winter. Are there any S and B groups in West Seattle? I really miss my old one from Eugene.

I'd love to! I need a week or so to get settled from insane summer but will definitely follow up..

When is good for you, JenV?

a weekday evening would be nice for me but I can be flexible...

  5. What is an S and B group? I taught myself to knit about a year and a half ago and would be interested in a group that meets!

(On a side note, it took knitting to move me from reading the forums to posting!)

  6. Stitch and Bi*ch. :)

I just learned, so knitting with others who are more advanced would be great. I am really good at the latter half of the S&B, though, so no problems there.

weeknights would be fine- just not Monday or Tuesday- can't interfere with my only two tv nights - Terminator and Fringe.

  7. Thanks! Shows how little I know...

I doubt I'd be considered advanced, but would be interested also!

  8. Knitters only, or are other needle arts welcome?

    Posted 3 years ago #
  9. anyone is welcome as far as I am concerned - if you can stitch and you can do that other thing that rhymes with stitch... knitters, crocheters, needle-pointers, tattooists, sewers...the more the merrier!

I think this is a great idea! I usually meet up with some ladies on CapHill but I'm longing for something closer to home. Any ideas on a good location to get together?

  11. I am SO interested in starting up a local knitting circle!!! Count me in.

As for Seattle Yarn, I agree that it's wonderful. You can get good yarn all over WA, but the service is incredible and that's what brings me back. They have sat me down (once for hours) and worked me through problems, calculations, you name it. Good people :)

So Wednesday or Thursday nights? Oh yes, I agree. All needle crafters and all levels should be welcome. How a bout a cafe? Are there any open in the PM. Ideas?

    I'm so excited!

    Hey -

I think I would be interested too. But I have not yet signed up for beginning knitting lessons. It's re-learning, actually.

Juli - I looked at your site - I think bobbin lace is incredible! I don't know that I could do it, but I just think it is so lovely!

Coffee-to-a-Tea use to have a knitting circle - maybe Tuesday nights??? - if I recall? I have NO idea whether it is still meeting. CTaT also has a bunch of cushy chairs and a couch, as well as tables and upright chairs and lots of kids toys to keep the young ones entertained.

And, did I mention the cupcakes? :]

  14. I'm not a stitcher but I would recommend Coffee to a Tea -they are open late (til 9 or 10, I think) and have plenty of room in the back, with some comfy chairs, not to mention the really good cupcakes!

OK, I'm going to make a new thread so others will see it too! I'm so excited!!!

westseattledood, if you just showed up we could help you get started. Especially since you've done it before. Unless you are totally flustered and want lessons...

  17. Westseattledood, you might be surprised; bobbin lace is not really very difficult. I teach it to 10 year olds--and 6 year old children used to begin learning it when it was commercially viable.

Certainly you can do it if you'd like to!
