For less than $600! This has been my (photographer) husband's dream vacation for some time. I'm trying to convince him to go solo - but the window is tight since we are expecting in early September...hmmm?

Anyone renewed their passport lately? How long did it take?

  5. Iceland is amazing! I spent a week there in 2006, kinda tempted to return with this great deal.

  6. I've always wanted to go to Iceland too! It's actually supposedly a pretty mild place according to Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel (what a great job she has!). She was there enjoying those many outdoor volcanic hot springs and it looked like a lot of the other Scandinavian countries. Hmm...I'm sooo tempted to go myself now! Thanks RainyDay!

    Bjork is from Iceland!

What is there to do there besides sitting in volcanic hot springs? Serious question, believe it or not.

I watched a program about paranormal stuff in Iceland and if memory serves me, they're pretty open minded about ghosts, goblins, trolls, etc. which is right up my alley. I seem to remember something about "trolls turn to stone" when the sun comes up....

Personally, I'd rather be in the South Pacific. I've been to Fiji and Tahiti tiwce before and didn't want to come back to the states.

    Jiggers,

    Several good things about Fiji.

    A couple of them:

    Good Indian food in Fiji.

    The sugar cane is pure.

As far as volcanic hot springs, the next state over from us has an abundance of them (that state being Idaho) with the added bonus of naked Idahoans in them.

I went to Moorea and Tavarua. It was a surfing expedition I did back in the 90's with some friends. Ohhh.. I wish I could bring back my glory days. The one thing is that the food is good and healthy. Fresh fruit everywhere, plus a lot cheaper than anywhere in the states. The locals are super friendly. Women in Fiji and Tahiti don't shave though..lol It was a trek. I took two hours after we landed in Nadi to get to Tavarua after a nine hour flight from Hawai'i. But the pictures, memories and some very decent uncrowded surf was great. The fishing also was outstanding. Catching big ulua just off the beach, and we didn't have to go out very far to troll for the wahoo. Lobster and squid too. If I won the lotto, I'd be down their pretty quick.
