Rave: King County Metro and Anonymous Rider

  1. I left my wallet on a bus this morning and want to commend a thoughtful rider and Metro staff for helping me get it back within 2 hours.

As the bus pulled away, I realized I couldn't find my wallet. I called Metro Customer Information and Jim helped figure out which bus I had ridden and got in touch with the driver. I got lucky and a very kind rider (no doubt from West Seattle!) had found the wallet and turned it into the driver (complete with cash even). Jim then called me back and coordinated a meet up as the bus passed back through downtown.

I'd like to offer my profound thanks to all involved: the rider, bus driver, and Metro customer service rep. You've made my day a lot easier. I hope that someone is as kind to you in the future.

    Routes involved:
lost on route 56 passing 4th and Jackson at 9:18am
    returned on route 22 passing 3rd & S Main at 11:07am

Owen - I love this story (not that you had to go through the feeling of losing your wallet originally but the honesty of our neighbors)!!

Jiggers. Your prejudicial assumptions about people who ride those buses routes doesn't make me lol at all.

Owen - So glad you got your wallet back!

If you loose your wallet at A Terrible Beauty you don't get it back either. :( Someone out there had a happy holiday with my Christmas money and gift cards to Bakery Nouveau, Mission and Wild Ginger...

They didn't use my credit or debit cards but what a pain it was to replace everything and man, I loved that wallet!

Eliza....I'm not here to make you laugh. Just because I pointed out a few bus route numbers makes me prejudice or maybe even a bigot? I lived through my whole life being a minority. There are people here who know me personally and what ethnicity I am. I ain't white that's for sure. Anyways, I hope whenever I lose my wallet, I hope I'm that lucky.

  6. I once lost my wallet outside a strip mall in Belfair while walking my dog as my wife shopped. I had just withdrawn $200.00, and the wallet had everything in it that I need to legally work as well as money (bus drivers must carry their license and medical card at all times). I was frantic - digging through the garbage can near the ATM where I'd withdrawn the money; scanning the ground everywhere I'd been. I was ready to cancel our vacation and head home early so that I could replace the missing items - when I got a call on my cell phone from of all people my auto insurance agent. She asked if I had been in Belfair recently (only 45 minutes had passed since I noticed my missing wallet). I said "yes" and was told that the Belfair police department had called using the number on my insurance card, and was holding my wallet. Someone had turned it in. Less than an hour after I'd lost it and gone through all of the emotional gymnastics involved - I had it back. I only wish that I knew who to thank.
