RAVE: Ephesus Restaurant

  1. A local gem that I had never been to until today, Ephesus rates an A+ with me. Great ice cold beer on the back veranda, killer appetizer to die for (Ezme) - thanks for the suggestion, Joanne..kebabs that were fantastic, service superb..baklava for dessert irresistible. I will definitely be going there again, even if just for the appetizer and a glass of wine. It was yummy.(Oh, and the pita, housemade, fresh from the oven!!!)

  2. Ephesus is my favorite restaurant in all of Seattle. I love going there. The food is delicious and I am totally addicted to the ezme. The Turkish coffee is yummy too.

Based on this post, I tried to go there last night. Alas, my friend and I had our two girls. Not a thing on the menu for them to eat. We had to move on.

  5. Not only is the food delicious and the staff friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is pleasant, quiet, and calm.

  6. "Not a thing on the menu for them to eat."

That's the kids' fault, not the restaurant's.

your kids don't eat rice or grilled veggies or grilled chicken?
shared kabobs and rice seem like the perfect kid meal to me..

but you are right. no hot dogs or hamburgers or mac and cheese.

Let's not be harsh, KBear; no reason to blame the children. It's obviously the parents' fault if the kid won't eat anything that isn't golden brown. ;-)
Seriously, though: children don't need to eat "kid food." As the child of a chef who was raised to eat what I was fed (barring two foods I'm allergic to), I would actually rarely order from the kids' menu. I loved every vegetable under the sun, but I don't take credit for that; I liked so many varied foods because my parents fed them to me at a young age, and more importantly did not add disclaimers like "you may not like this," or "this is too bitter/spicy/etc. for kids."

  9. I've seen kids eating there plenty of times so I'm not sure what the problem is...?

  10. "I know I don't like that because I've never had it before!"

  11. i think sometimes parents just don't want to pay Ephesus prices when grabbing food with kids...

  12. "Not a thing on the menu to eat" and "I know I don't like that" aka "I've never had it before so I won't eat it" is not limited to children. I know several adults who say those exact things. It's so sad - they miss so much good food.

Yep, my kid is a super picky eater -- and I am sure it is my fault also. That said, a nice restaurant is not the place to have a fight with a child over food. It is unpleasant for everyone.
    .
I have eaten there several years ago and loved it -- not every restaurant caters to kids. I wasn't knockin the place -- just stating that they don't have a kids menu.
