Anyone tried parking in the spaces behind the liquor store? They look newly striped and so narrow that compact cars cannot open doors without denting the car next to them. What good are "extra" parking spaces if no one can use them? It will simply encourage people to park over the lines to prevent people from parking right next to them and thus making it impossible to get in/out and probable that dings will occur.

Totally agree .. In their attempt to create more parking there will likely be less because people will park "creatively" .. also, brilliant idea to close down the lot during after work hours right before a major holiday weekend. No one will be needing any booze prior to July 4th, I guess, not to mention, spending money at other businesses in the area. I am constantly amazed at the timing of things like this. It's summer and light until almost 10 PM.. can't they paint the lot later or earlier during non business hours? It's like when grocery stores get deliveries and stock all the shelves at 12:00 noon when the store is flooded with lunch rush customers.

Me too - when I pulled into the lot on Tuesday afternoon I thought "Great! They have finally repainted the spaces and they're angled!". Then I tried parking, the spaces are too SKINNY!!! The tires were on the lines on both sides of my mini-van.

Hmm. Maybe they're trying to send all of the van, truck and SUV owners a message that you should be driving smaller vehicles. Either that or they're trying to get you so frustrated and stressed that you'll buy more booze.

I just went there over the weekend and saw some SUVs that fit in the spaces just fine. I looked for this issue, since I read the post before I went. I really didn't see it. I drive pretty wide car and I didn't have any trouble. Is it one side of the parking lot or the other that has the skinny spots? I parked in the south section.

I haven't been by to check them out yet, but they have to be better than the spots outside the Westwood Village Target, right? Those things are insanely cramped.

  7. I find parking spaces here in Seattle to be insanely narrow everywhere compared to when I lived on the east coast. And my car isn't unusually big.

  8. I find if I park my Hummer2 across 3-4 spots diagonally I fit just fine, so I don't know what you people are on about. ;)

I was there last night. Looks like some of the spaces are smaller (especially toward the West end of the lot) but not all of them are. Maybe the guys who painted the lines were high.

Some jackass in a Yukon was parked in 1.5 spaces though.
