Rant - leaf blowers at Westwood at 5:AM??

    Isn't there a noise ordinance prohibiting the use of leaf blowers before 7:AM? While those of us who live near Westwood shopping center are used to buses and traffic noise (and the enormous-but-brief CLANG of commercial dumpsters being emptied once a week), an hour and a half of the constant drone of leaf blowers at five in the morning is a bit much.

    Oh, I feel your pain...I live across the street from Admiral Safeway, and they clean their parking lot at all hours..not only a leaf blower, but a truck with brushes on it like the street cleaners.

    I once had a neighbor who would actually get out of bed at night and go over and tell the manager to stop, that it had to be done before 10pm...hehehe...and they'd stop. I don't think it ever occurs to these people that residents may be impacted by the noise.

    You can search the City of Seattle Legislative Information Service - Seattle Municipal Code website - takes some digging but you might find an ordinance and let Westwood know. If you get a non favorable response from them file a complaint - I have found it helpful in the past with construction noise, etc.
