RANT: Lazy AllStar fitness Staff and FREE lockers

Seems the staff at AllStar is more interested in selling memberships than doing their job. there are a limited number of large lockers. Small lockers can be rented (I do, to keep my gear as I ride a bike or motorcycle). large lockers are for day use only. people are leaving their locks on them a lot. Soon there will be no large lockers to use. I've mentioned it to the staff for the past 3 months. Nothing gets done.

    The usual replies are:
    1. Not my job but I will note it
    2. I'm new here and never heard of this problem
    3. I'll email the manager

Seems pretty easy to scan the lockers after closing or before opening and tag the non-rented lockers that have locks on them.

Since I PAY to rent a small locker, I am really ticked off that they do not police the lockers and cut off the locks of the freeloaders. Plus I pay $75 a week for personal training (which is excellent!) so where is all my money going? Probably to the staff that sits in their cubicles and is only interested in selling memberships.

Come on, guys at AllStar. this is the busy season when everyone goes to the gym as their new year resolution. We are running out of lockers because of the freeloaders or people who leave their lock on and never come back to remove it. Locker 376 has had the same lock for over 3 months. How many times have I mentioned it? 10 times? There are many more lockers permanently occupied or abandoned with locks that should be available for daily use.

    DO YOU JOB! PLEASE!

Whatever money they are getting definitely does not go into upkeep of the gym, that's for sure.

  3. Hi. Have you asked to speak to the manager yourself, instead of taking their word that they will "e-mail" a manager? Our rules require that rants have been taken directly to a manager or owner of a business BEFORE being posted here. Thanks. - TR

  4. gotta agree with adidasguy and HunterG on this one; I had a 1 month trial membership and went just about daily; just try and find a manager there; I sometimes wondered if a manager even existed; there were so many broken things that I also brought to attention of staff several times, and I did ask to talk to a manager (like please fix the fan in the dance/aerobics room; this was in October; one of the regulars told me the fan had been broken for months, many people complained, but nothing was done; the last dance class I took, one woman actually carried in her own giant personal fan from home; how much can it cost for the club to just buy a new fan?)

I've enjoyed memberships at many wonderful gyms in 30+ yrs, so this place completely baffles me, why they can't fix the basics

I as well, TR have tried to speak to any manager without any success.

The most I got was a complaint form or a maintenance form (which had been filled out numerous times) and a shrug of frustration from the front desk person who explained that they don't really know if there is a GM because they have never seen them and that things were "kinda weird" in regards to the management situation. Only after I threatened to bring in the health department was the black mold in the showers addressed.

About a month ago I left a message for the gm to call me which he did. I told him of all the complaints on wsblog. He said he was surprised and would look into things. Yeh, really. There are still no tissues: sanitizing machines are still empty or broken and you know the other problems. I am not convinced anyone cares and I am expecting the place to go bankrupt as some of their other locations have done.

Two locations downtown were reportedly sold, and because I work downtown I was accustomed to being able to use the Municipal Tower location. After they were sold, there was no notification to current All Star members. I went to the gym and was told, "this is no longer an All Star location, so your membership is not valid here". Apparently people who had their primary membership there (i.e. it is where they signed up) still have their membership honored, but for other users, not so. Nonetheless, there is still an active website for the Municipal Tower All Star (http://www.allstarfitness.com/seattlemuni.htm). This seems strange to me.

I don't know why I should have to go out of my way to hunt down an elusive All Star manager before I discuss shady business practices at a gym I pay dues to. The fact is that All Star does not have accessible managers.

Saw signs taped to the locker room doors yesterday warning that lock are supposed to be removed by the end of the day or will be removed. So maybe someone at Allstar West Seattle is reading the WSB:)

Yeah... I'm the one that brings the fan to Zumba classes there. Great teachers, awful maintenance and safety management there. I've written two complaint forms per month since April 2011 to ask that fans be fixed or replaced. I've talked with the maintenance staff directly by phone, and I've corresponded by email with Raoul, the GM. I've occasionally started asking the sales staff when they are going to get things fixed while they are giving tours to potential new members.
    ...
Also, when we signed up and paid for swim lessons, AllStar 'lost' my $90, having assigned it to another person's account that got switched to a downtown club. It took two weeks for them to find what they did with my payment.
    ...
There is ONE and only ONE front desk person that seems to have an interest in making the AllStar experience better, and I'm sorry I don't know her name. A lanky blonde with freckles that's there in the afternoons. She's alone in a world of lovely gum-chomping eye-rollers.

I just don't understand the carpets in the locker rooms thing. WHY? There are never a shortage of long lockers in the ladies locker rooms when I am there.
