I've tried to find out who in Junction Associations takes charge of the pedestrian pass-throughs from the parking lots to California Ave. with no luck so far.
    .
Those tunnels are generally filthy with old gum, urine, cigarette butts, etc. This weekend, the pass-through beside NW Art & Frame was also graced with feces.
    .
I assume dog feces, but since it had already been stepped in and printed in multi-steps down the walkway, I'm really only guessing at the species of perp.
    .
Do those walkways EVER get a cleaning?

I had not realzized it was like that all of the time. I had used the pass - through about three months ago & nearly threw up in my mouth. Does anyone know if there is a city number we could complain to?

Did anyone ever have an idea re: someone to call?

Is there a city sanitary department?

I've contacted SDOT. Sidewalk maintainance is their task. Let's see what happens.

I would think that this should be the junction's association responsibility. I believe that this is private property. I would think that the mexican restaurant should be responsible for cleaning up the cigarette butts etc since their side door opens onto this passage.

I'll add to this rant. But I don't think there is
anything to be done about it.
Every time I walk through, it reeks of cigarette smoke. People smoke near the entrance and the
wind tunnel effect draws it all in there.
    stinky! stinky! stinky!

Ah, the Poggie Tavern. Last frontier of smoking in West Seattle.

  12. To the original issue:

Heard back from Susan at the Junction Association. She has just hired someone to "mop the pass-thru monthly and spray with a sanitizer on a weekly basis." Though it's believed to be the responsibility of a private property owner, WSJA is going to take on the cleaning task.

That's awesome. Thank you, Susan, and everyone else who stepped up to find a solution to this issue.

I talked with Susan. The cleanup was supposed to have been done Friday or Monday. It was news to her that as of Tuesday morning it was all still a cesspool. She was tying up a note to the contracted cleaning service as we spoke.

I offered a donation to the association, she suggested volunteering time to the Junction Plaza Park cause to help or raise funds. Great idea!

Well, we walked through there around 7pm Monday night, so I hope it wasn't scheduled to be cleaned at midnight or something...if so, my apologies to the cleaning service :(

And yes, kudos to Susan for the quick response!
