Rant: Driver making u-turn under bridge on Avalon and hit a kid

    My grandson waited as you turned off Avalon onto this street before crossing on his bike. Once you passed he began to cross the street on his bike, but you decided to back up without looking and hit him! I guess you were making a u-turn. Fortunately he's not hurt; his mom who was behind him is seriously freaked out. A reminder to all of us to look over your shoulder before making turns.

    this is why it is important to be aware of what is behind you.. and beside you.. as well as what is in front of you.

    had they noticed a child waiting to cross the street as they passed.. they probably wouldn't have chosen to back into him...

    no matter how much we are focused on what is happening.. or needs to happen.. for us.. we share this world.. and our streets.. with others.

    be careful out there.

    I'm glad to hear that your grandson is ok. People should always look where they are going and be aware of pedestrians!

    Glad he is ok.. . I wish people would read and obey signs in general. That no u turn area is notorious!
