I drive during rush hour every day and I rarely see any bus use the lane. Instead the lane sits empty. It is a waste of us tax payers money.

Rant - Cars on the bridge who drive in the 'bus only' lane

If the lane were open to carpoolers during rush hour, what would happen with all of those cars if they were trying to get onto 99NB? It's be even more of a mess than the SOV's that block the way on the western portion of the highrise.
15th Avenue on the way to Ballard has bus only lanes as well, but they're restricted to rush hour times. I don't know why that isn't the case on our bridge, but like I said above, I'd anticipate it being a complete disaster.

Well, I just wish the buses would use their special lane instead of slowing down regular traffic in the NB99 exit lane. Last night I was heading downtown, and a bus (the #5 I believe) was entering at Delridge and kept on driving along in the far right exit lane instead of getting over into the bus lane! That bus was only going about 30MPH and it was slowing everyone down.

Yes, I've noticed this too m and I think that's the point of the bus lane. To be used by the buses when there is a high volume of traffic on the bridge - they could just use the lane to bypass the traffic getting on 99. But when there isn't any traffic, why would they think to use the lane...then a car gets caught behind the slow bus and can't pass it because there is a bus only lane there. But we all have to slow down coming up to that turn on 99 so would it really save you that much time to pass or for the bus to use it's lane? Maybe it'd shave a few minutes off - and you could always pass it when you get on 99.
