RANT AND RAVE for Feeback Lounge

  1. Rave: Great vibe, damn good food, fun wait staff, cool hang.

Rant: WHY have coooool crap playing on the TV's/Wall if YOU CANT HEAR IT???? Is it a BMI/ASCAP issue?? Would have LOVED to hear the old WHO thing that was on the other night??
    -
WSB..any ideas why the 'juke box' or whatever is always playing and NOT the actual sound from the videos??

  2. they have an iPod system that runs their music, and it's a great setup. if people wanted to watch TV, I suppose they could stay home. I really enjoy the Feedback, and will glance up at the TV to see what concert they're playing, and also being able to listen to great varied music. FYI Ama Ama does a similar thing, just with classic movies instead of concert videos with no sound.

The other night they had classic AC/DC on the tube with Bon Scott which I would have rather heard than the crap they were playing over the speaker system. It reminds me of going to a local sports bar were a game is on, but only music is playing. I want to hear the game not the music.

  4. exactly, jiggers.

-Jen..you're point is quite valid for a place like Ama Ama, but for Feedback..it's SUPPOSED to be all about the music and the videos that are playing. That's the whole point of it all. Gotta dig deeper.

A lot of those concert videos are laced with periods of the performer talking to the audience, background commentary, and generally songs that just don't sound quite as good as the studio recordings.

Kind of like why on the radio you normally her the studio recording version of most songs, not the live recordings.

I have to agree with The Feedback on this one.

  6. I was there the same day with the Who playing on the screen.
Yes, I did want to hear it cranked up, but at the same time I loved the compilations playing.
You still have to pay BMI or ASCAP for music videos and recorded music, that's not the reason they didn't have it playing.
I say, let them settle in, let the staff play the music, otherwise just open up your own bar and you can be your own DJ.
They have a concept, and I'm liking it.

Most people don't know what good music is. I hear crap being played in certain bars that I can hear on the radio for free. I'm not going to spend my 5 dollars on a jukebox because some nazi bartender wants to please his customers by playing overplayed pop music. The jukebox is there for a reason to give patrons a variety of music to be played. You might as well get rid of the jukebox if your going to play top 40 and regurgitated songs all the time. Just pop in a burned CD and let her rip(which is illegal). Music on the radio today is horrible if you ask me. Today humans have a huge short attention span when it comes to good music and thought. That's because of the radio industry and American Idol, it's all their fault. Like Bruce Springsteen song 'Radio Nowhere' and Tom Petty's "The Last DJ" says it all.

  8. I guess jukebox's can be hit or miss.
I certainly don't need to hear Journey's "Don't stop believing" for the umpteenth time, Cracklin Rosy or any other top 5 Karaoke songs.
If I don't like the music, I don't go, pretty simple to me.
Anything can be called "Pop", just depends on your taste or view of what is current or overplayed.
