we hear daily, the spewing of negative news and depressing stories, over the TV, the wire, Radio...I know for a fact there are AMAZING things going on out there that create laughter, love and smiles. kindness is being done right now and i would LOVE to hear about it. West Seattle is such a great community filled with delicious and genuine people. give a shout out if you have encountered a Random Act of Kindness.

Just the other day a kind West Seattle man chased me down the street to return my tiny wallet with all my credit cards and ID that had slipped unknowingly out of my coat pocket. West Seattle people really are wonderful.

It annoyed me that this post wasn't at the top. Many are the days that I think to myself,"Less cranks, more thanks." So I Googled "good news in west seattle." Here's what I got.
1. News for "good news in west seattle": Police say crime in decline at West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meeting (hmm, this seemed arguable or at least controversial in an earlier thread, so no help there)
2. Alki Bakery closed doors for good Nov 15 (um, not actually good news)
3. Scoop! Alki Bakery closes doors for good tonight (yeah, no, see #2)
4. The city dump never looked so good (read: FAIL!)
5. Volunteers exhausted as record number of seals hit beaches (okay, right on, there it is)Posted 1 year ago # -
I am always cheered and my heart is filled when I see all the parents who care so deeply about education that they donate their time and effort to improving our schools. Whether it is working on an auction to raise money or sitting and working one-on-one with a child in class. I love how much energy and love we dedicate to children and education.

After I lost my keys in my own yard while pruning plants in the snow (IN THE SNOW--WHAT WAS I THINKING???), my kind neighbors invited me and my 2 dogs over to their warm house, served me a hot tea toddy, and neighbor's husband went back to my yard and dug, FINDING the keys I'd buried in the snow!!! Thank you, Karl and Michelle. I owe you several good favors. :)

Two of my friends who found themselves walking to the ferry terminal after spending untold hours on the bus last night were picked up and given a ride the rest of the way by a passing driver. One of them is six months pregnant so it was especially awesome that someone stopped.

WHile we were sledding with one sled and 2 kids today someone just randomly was walking by with 3 sleds and gave us one....THANKS.
When we were done we saw 2 boys sledding on toddler pull toys with wheels-so we gave them the sled. Later tonight I was driving by the hill we qwwere sledding and saw a dad and his daughter using the same sled.

I have two kindess of strangers to report.
1. On Monday night after sitting on a bus for five hours trying to get home, the bus dropped me off at Fauntleroy and Alaska and I was trying to make it across the street and a gentleman named Gary got out of his truck and asked me if I needed help. He ended up giving me a ride to my house two blocks away.
2. On Wednesday (today), I was trying to walk down my street (which was still a sheet of ice) and a gentleman stopped and asked me if I needed help and I asked if he could get me to the bus stop. He brought me all the way into town to my work at the court house.
