Thank God they broke #ows up. The protestors were about to get into bundling bad mortgages & betting trillions on unregulated derivatives.

Remember when we would get annoyed that Adam Sandler was doing a dramatic movie because it meant he wasn't doing a comedy?

CORRECTION: RomneyCare and ObamaCare aren't exactly the same. RomneyCare covers abortions.

    it has simply temporarily relocated

may have been the best thing they could have done for OWS

  10. [Thinking about what you just said.]

    Hmmm. Pauses.

    My policy on pauses . . .

    So . . . mmmm . . . what do I think about pauses? Is that what you're asking?

Or did you want to know what I think about stalling?

Cain defends foreign policy stumbles. Says knowing every detail isn't important: "We need a leader, not a reader."

  17. "We need a leader, not a reader."

Wow. Did Cain really say that? I thought that was W's line. Remember? Bush said he didn't need to read the newspapers because he had other people do that for him. Can you imagine?

    I can.

Cheney: Hey, George! Did you read where Saddam has WMDs and he's about to use 'em on us?

Bush: Gosh no, Dick! You don't say! That's awful.

Cheney: Oh yeah. And it looks like we're gonna have to attack him first, to prevent that from happening.

Bush: Aw shucks, really? Attack? You mean like war n'stuff?

Cheney: Oh, yeah, George. That's what the article I was reading said. Look. Here it is. Right here in the New York Times.

Bush: Those smarty-pants reporters! How do they know all that stuff anyways?

Cheney: Easy-peasy, George. I just call the Times every morning and tell 'em.

"This country does in fact have a serious deficit problem. But the reality is that the deficit was caused by two wars - unpaid for. It was caused by huge tax breaks for the wealthiest people in this country. It was caused by a recession as a result of greed, recklessness and illegal behavior on Wall Street. And if those are the causes of the deficit, I will be damned if we're going to balance the budget on backs of the elderly, the sick, the children, and the poor. That's wrong." - Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Senate Budget Committee, 11/18/2011

  26. Ok my fave: in the King County building on King Street the restrooms have a sign opposite the door saying:

"Water in Toilets and Urinals is Non-potable"

And below it, presumably, the same message in Braille.

They pay roughly 12% of their measly $17,000 to state and local taxes.

How do we solve our deficit problem, let's look to the GOP hero, Ronnie Reagan... what a guy.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/19/business/economy/tax-pledge-may-scuttle-deal-to-cut-deficit-economic-memo.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss

"...President Reagan’s 1982 and 1984 budget-trimming deals, more than 80 percent of deficit reductions came from tax increases.

Mr. Reagan may be remembered as an antitax hero, but he actually raised taxes 11 times over the course of his presidency, all in the name of fiscal responsibility."

yeah I know I know... but I dare anyone to show me any link of the opposite of what was reported, THAT reagan lowered taxes to solve the debt problem. wanna disprove the NYT, do it then.

The problem with the pro-corporatism argument - no factual basis.

Point to ANY point in our history where lowering corporate taxes raises job growth.

Yea? and Congress STiLL spent it faster than RR could raise it...no surprise. Well those 12% taxes? Here comes another Gregoire "temporary" increase ... whew, glad for that. You want the services. you have voted democrats for four decades, it's what they do.. they tax and they spend. Try an alternative.

actually, kootch, the state has nothing to spend, and we're suffering through the worst budget cuts in washington's history.

read the governor's statements on the front page.

and i keep telling you, all people who earn paychecks pay income tax. the tragic thing is that you don't seem to find it the least bit sad that they're eligible for deductions and exemptions that are more than their incomes. you're quick to blame the government and the tax code, but you ignore the root of the problem: low wages, increasing personal debt, and high cost of living.

and we all pay FICA and medicare no matter what - unless your income is derived entirely from investment. and to put that in perspective, 75% of us pay more FICA tax than we do income tax.
