Please help, my cat needs a home!

I have to give up my cat due to severe allergies and asthma that have been getting progressively worse. The Dr. says it’s the cat or my lungs, it’s up to me…and I’ve put it off as long as I can.

I have to get rid of him by tomorrow, my entire house is going to be deep cleaned. I have tried Craigs List, postings at work, checking with friends and no one is able to take my cat in…not even my family. My friend suggested someone reading the West Seattle Blog might be able to help.

He’s a grey and white DSH, 10 years old, no front claws and he’s fixed…and a little shy. He doesn’t have any bad habits, never used anything other than the litter box and is an all around great companion! His name’s Jake, and he could really use a good home.

Please let me know if you are interested in adopting him…if I don’t get anyone to take him, I will be taking him to a no-kill shelter, as much as I hate to, it’s my last resort. krsween23@yahoo.com

    Thank you!

  2. Hi dear- I have forwarded this on to a couple friends who might be able to take him. If you can\'t find anyone, I will be able to foster him for awhile, but it will have to be after the weekend. take care and have a good move this weekend! ~ Jen

How is he with other cats?

JenV, thanks so much, I appreciate you and all that you do!

Beasley - he has been with other cats, and he\'s fine with them...younger cats tend to \"irritate\" him, but that just means he goes someplace else to get away from them. He\'s a lover, not a fighter.

If you need fostering this weekend, we can do it (and turn him over to Jen Tuesday. We can\'t keep him and our three would rather he not even visit. Um, couldn\'t you reschedule the cleaning? Pre-holiday weekend fostering is a bit tricky; I imagine you\'ll have more possibilities Tuesday.

Pamela -- you out there??? :-)

If you can afford it, you might want to board your cat for the weekend until someone can foster after the holidays.

I\'m sorry you have to give up your baby and wish we could help, but our cat is a scrapper. I\'ll ask around and see if I know anyone who wants a new family member.

Oooops -- I just learned that we have construction folks coming in this weekend -- tearing rebuilding a couple of rooms in the next couple of weeks, so it\'s not going be a very good time for feline guests. And Bump :-)

There is also a PAWS Cat-only adoption place in downtown Ballard I think - you might want to contact them.

  14. I do believe the PAWS Cat-only adoption place is in Greenwood. It\'s called Cat City. I\'m fostering some kittens right now for Kitty Harbor on Harbor Ave. All the shelters are REEAAALLLLY packed beyond max capacity. The best bet would be trying to find a foster home. Many kittens were put down last weekend because there is no room in most non-kill shelters. Terribly sad.

  17. K- If my boss is not able to take him tomorrow, board him somewhere for the weekend and I will take him on Tuesday until we can find a home. Lola is just going to have to accept she is not the only cat on the planet. ;)

  18. JenV..

    you have a huge heart.

  19. naw, just love kitties and want to help a friend out is all. anyone else here would do the same if they could.

  20. I could foster over this weekend, if nothing else is found. It would have to be after my last client leaves at 3pm on Friday. I expect to be here all weekend expect for a few short ins and outs. I just can\'t have a permanent pet, since I have clients who are allergic. But...I\'m definitely willing...

    JenV...

Three cheers for JenV! Thank you so much for having such a big heart and being so helpful. I\'d take him in but my lil girl (senior cat) does not do well with other cats.

  22. Jan, you rock. :)

  23. Yippee!! Way to go ladies! Fostering is really the best option right now. Seems everyone is taking kitties to the shelter rather than adopting. Hopefully the kitty will find a wonderful home in the future!!!

  24. hey...we could even bring the kid\'s cats over to play - lol...they actually have one who is kinda shy , too. The other one\'s definitely aren\'t...

Is there a picture of the kitty that could be circulated? I would love to send the story and a pic out to some of my friends.

  27. I\'ve been considering a companion for my seven year old female and would be interested at least on a trial basis. She\'s been an only cat her whole life (I adopted her just over a year ago) so I\'m not sure how she would get along with another animal in the house... hence the need for a tryout.

Dear all of you wonderful, sweet and caring West Seattle Blog supporters...

Thank you all so much for your care, concern and suggestions. There has been much chaos since Friday evening, but all is well and Jake\'s story ends on a loving note. He shall not be sheltered, homeless or even remotely hindered...but greatly loved...we can all rejoice!!

    Thanks again!
