Hi Viva_V. Welcome to West Seattle!
West Seattle has many grass roots charity and community groups, so you will have lots of choices.
Our group, Furry Faces Foundation, assists animals whose humans are financially restricted, with healthy pet food, unexpected Vet bills, and spay/neuter costs. We have about 5-6 fun community fundraisers a year; deliver pet food to clients; drive clients to the Vet with their pet,(if they don't have transportation); pick up in kind donations and get them to people or small rescue groups that need them; partner with rescue on projects; and much more.
If you like to gift wrap, we have four gift wrapping events in December. They are very fun and there are lost of different tasks. Please feel free to contact us at furryfaces@hotmail.com or check us out on our Facebook page or website: http://www.furryfaces.org
And here are just a few of the many opportunities available in West Seattle:
Westside Baby
West Seattle Help Line
West Seattle Food Bank
White Center Food Bank
Nickelsville (pick up and deliver donations)
Tutoring at the schools
Sustainable West Seattle
Friends of the Animals Foundation
Kitty Harbor
Southwest Youth and Family Services

Hi Viva_V!
In addition to all the great groups mentioned above, the West Seattle Garden Tour committee is always looking for people to join us! We are an all volunteer non-profit group that gets together once a month for a pot-luck dinner and meeting to plan the upcoming WS Garden Tour. We have a number of subcommittees that need additional hands and also welcome people who want to volunteer for a few hours the day of the Tour to staff one of the gardens. More info on our website http://www.westseattlegardentour.com

I do most of my volunteering at Nature Consortium, which does urban forest restoration in the West Duwamish Greenbelt and youth arts education. They have multiple work parties every month, and other events.

I am really excited to become more involved in this beautiful neighborhood :)
