pelicansParticipantFirst off, no I haven’t contacted these two women who are starting this. All my horrified concerns are addressed in their “FAQ’S”, and the owners of this app, supposedly starting up in November, seem fairly dismissive of the alarm expressed by the public. I don’t do social media, except for WSB, period. Almost eligible for social security, I work with some people my age, but mostly young people in their 20’s and 30’s,in other words, the facebook/twitter/text/instagram generation. When all of us old fogeys discuss the general loss of privacy these days, all of the youngsters, without exception, don’t see it as a big deal, because it makes their world more secure and/or their social lives richer. Oh, and another thing, this new app requires only that someone have your cell phone number and name to publicly give you a number rating from 1 to 5 as a human being, and to say what they will about you. You cannot remove your name from this site if someone else has put you on there. At my work, I’m in charge of keeping up to date all the contact numbers for our employees locally, and all of our numbers are in another data base held by the local district office covering 4 or 5 states. Locally, our numbers are accessible by hundreds of people, and district wide, I estimate thousands have access. I suppose it was only a matter of time until something like this came along, but I wonder if it is a combination of a nanny mindset run amok, and two people with dollar $ign$ in their eyes. They apparently have millions in backing for this.

KBearParticipantYou’re right, Pelicans. This is sure to become an albatross for some unfortunate souls.

pelicansParticipantKB, If there are the push backs and lawyers I anticipate will be involved, these two girls will have to seriously rethink their business model. Hopefully.

JoBParticipanti thought this was a joke… one of those satire things that i don’t really get. I am horrified that it’s not. it’s an open invitation to bullying

anonymeParticipantOne of the worst ideas ever, although it should make a lot of lawyers happy. Just as Yelp is notoriously unreliable, Peeple will be nothing more than a platform for vicious libel. I wonder if the two nitwits who are starting this realize that they have made themselves the first targets…
