Pacific Rim Brewery is gone. RIP. I\'ve been advised that \"Big Al\'s Brewery\" will be opening up mid-July...Hooray! Bring back the PacRim, albeit resurrected as \"Big Als\".

Couple of questions for others...bigalbrewing.com used to be an open/active website with weblog which provided details of their activity and progress. Now it asks for a user id & password. ??

Next, anyone know \"Big Al\" and whether or not there truly will be a mid-July opening? I drove past the place the other day, dilapidated structure, Pacific Rim Brewery signage still visible, busted out company van, and closed/locked/chained premises.

    Any thoughts?

  2. I am thrilled that a new brewery is coming into the spot! I had the same experience when I tried to go to the website, perhaps it is under construction at the moment.

I may stop by there if anyone is around to see if I can get any news. Yay for beer! :)

Could you have pizza without first inventing the wheel?

  8. I can\'t seem to find anything telling me where this place is located? I am inferring from this thread & comments in others that it\'s in White Center?

14th Avenue, SW, by the USBank in White Center. The old \"Pacific Rim Brewery\" which is now closed, sold, vacant, and without a website anymore. If you never went...well, it was a fun, \"Cheers-esque\" kind of place w/tasty suds.

  10. After reading the interview for Big Al\'s I realize I work with his wife, Noelle...till we both get laid off...hehe.
Best of luck and I hope to try out the place when you\'re open.

Hey FullTilt...here we are at the 10th of July, but the old Pacific Rim Brewery/new Big Al\'s Brewing still looks like a desolate GHOSTTOWN. Real news/updates about progress and/or when we can expect a realistic opening??

  12. I\'ve been wondering this myself, A. My partner drove by the other day and said there was a banner with a website on it but last time I checked, it was still a restricted site.

  13. SO I just talked to him a few hours ago. He has a new sign, and a fancy new van with their logo across it. He is just waiting for the last of his permits. Maybe this weekend, maybe next.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  14. yes to beer. Please yes.

FullTilt (teacher half), I will stop by your shop this weekend and leave my card. We can talk more later?

    Posted 3 years ago #

    Posted 3 years ago #
  19. Fortunaely for me, I could walk home from there.

  20. Hi Everyone!! Big Al here :) First, sorry about the website, we are updating it and it is taking forever. We are on web developer #3. We hope to have it up in a week or two. We are painting the inside, getting merchandise together (pint glasses, tap handles, growlers, t-shirts, etc.), getting the place cleaned up and so on. We hope to open soon but \"the man\" is taking his time with our licensing. Maybe a week or two more. Initially we will have only the two beers, abbey wheat and irish red. But as Fulltilt said, lots more surprises to come. Big Al Brewing is a group of homebrewers full of creativity, a deep passion for beer and never limited by \"styles\". We look forward to sharing our beers with you all!
(Wow, that last part sure sounded like an adverstisment, huh?)
Keep checking the website if you don\'t mind putting up with that login screen until we have it up. Or, you can wait for me to post an opening announcement here once we have date.

    Cheers,
    Big Al

I am walking over as I type with a tent and a sleep roll to set up camp. I WILL be there like a kid waiting for anew video game release at Circut City.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  23. Welcome to the neighborhood Al!! Thanks for the update! We\'re just two blocks away and can\'t wait to try your brews!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  24. FullTilt. Now, really? I would never dare flirt with your wife, because my lady would also beat the stuffing out of me, and then you could finish me off. :)

    Back to the beer.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  25. And if I have too many, I will sleep on RS\'s lawn. Too full bodied? Never!! (Okay, I stand corrected. I will be good.)

    Posted 3 years ago #
  26. Al, you are a brave man for undertaking any sort of business relationship with Pac Rim\'s previous owner. What a piece of work that guy is... The hop shortage didn\'t put Pac Rim out of business, that guy did.

Good luck to you. Can\'t wait to try yr beer and revist the old Rim.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  27. Okay, Socl, just don\'t try to scale the rock wall to get there. And watch out for dog poop and bottle caps. :)

    Posted 3 years ago #
  28. Big Al--get a porter on tap and I\'ll be all yours!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  29. I am gonna walk over with Todd and camp...where is that sleeping bag...damn it.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  30. our next event!

    now that has possibilities:)

    Posted 3 years ago #
  31. Guess I gott buy jammies then, but apparently not at Target cuz I can\'t return them...lol. This thread is much more fun than that other one.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  32. everything is more fun with beer:)

    Posted 3 years ago #
  33. Yay!! Happy fun times with beer and no intense discussions/lessons about fighting oppression and recognizing privilege unless you politely ask for them and they are held outside with lots more beer!! Whew! I\'m in! :)

    Posted 3 years ago #
  34. Happy fun beer? With cookies?

    Posted 3 years ago #
  35. i think we are jesting.. but i think a happy fun time with beer and no serious discussion sounds pretty good..

maybe it\'s time for a party?

i still want to see what everyone looks like in their jammies:)

Please oh please Al, I hope that you have painted the ladies room.
At PacRim it was gawdawful. And the men\'s room had that well... men\'s room smell. And then they changed the b-rooms to unisex, anyway. I hope you are nice to the ladies there and provide us with a decent place to rest a minute and light enough to put our lipstick on. And please take that rug/mat out. It smelled funny too.
I hope you took off the cheesy wine bottle wallpaper trim. You did, didn\'t you?? I mean, really.

All that aside- alot of people are excited about the new owner and new (sounds delicious) beer and seeing some familiar faces. A pretty sizable group of regulars went pub-less for a long time. I think there will be campers on the sidewalk equipped with growlers! (And I\'m not talking about that possum guy).

Whereas the old Rim was virtually unknown, I think with the community from WS Blog, and the up and coming art scene in White Center, all will be well.

You did peel off that wine bottle wallpaper, yes??

    Cheers!!!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  37. JimmyG - We\'ll launch our porter this fall!

aunteesocial - good news!! The wine wallpaper is gone, both bathrooms are painted, the mens room is clean, and the rug/mat is gone! My wife, Noelle, is the General Manager and she will make sure the place is lady friendly. We are even adding more purse hooks under the bar :)

    Cheers!

  38. White Center Heart Big Al!

Have fun with the camping out, though you might not be the only ones in the neighborhood with a bedroll. (voluntarily anyway.)

  39. I can easily stumble home from there so I\'m very much looking forward to tasting the new brews.

*Growlers anxiously swinging in each hand*

    Posted 3 years ago #
  40. Bayou, you and I can hold each other up on the way home. I can barely wait...open, open, open.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  41. Big Al\'s website is finally up, although it doesn\'t say much other than \"Opening early- August, 7th 2008\" http://bigalbrewing.com/

    Bring on the brews!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  42. early- August 7th? So what, 6, 7 am? Sounds good to me!

I think we should all have some WSB Forum Flair to identify each other when we all finally break down Al\'s door to get to the beer. :)

    Posted 3 years ago #
  43. hehehe...well, beer has a lot of grain in it\'s making...does that pass for breakfast?

    Posted 3 years ago #
  44. come on guys, show some restraint....remember when Zippy\'s ran out of food the first day due to the WSB\'ers? More tragic is to run out of beer....especially before I get there!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  45. Don\'t worry Jen, we\'ll hide some growlers for you under our bar stools. Tragic if you don\'t get there in time, but great for the new business owners! Horray for White Center!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  46. JenV..

i don\'t drink beer.. you can have mine:)

i think it\'s past time for a meet up... would love to make it a WSB party.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  47. Oops, it just supposed to say August 7th :) We are opening at 3pm and I look forward to meeting you all!
We should have a full site up in a few days.

Going to go fix website now....

    Cheers!

  48. That sounds great Al! Too bad I\'ll be out of town until Sunday. :( Hey you WC WSBers, don\'t drink all of Al\'s beer before Sunday!!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  49. So when are we doing a WSB night at Big Al\'s?

    Posted 3 years ago #
