Would anyone be interested in an Organic Juice Bar and Healthy Foods Cafe in the Admiral/California area?
I am thinking about opening one. I owned one before and it was pretty cool. Also, are there any partners interested in investing? It would sorta be like Chaco Canyon in the U district.
I love the idea, but like anything, its all about the location. Someone told me what the nnn is on the space Blackboard just took over and I did a double take. You will be a great B Plan to find the money.
I'd definitely be interested in that type of a cafe, pretty much anywhere in West Seattle. Don't have any $ to invest, but I'd be a happy customer, especially if you had vegetarian/vegan items on the menu.
the space I am looking at is right on the corner of California and SW Walker st. It's by Shanti Salon. Parking is only street parking. This place does not have NNN..so that is nice. I hate that stuff. Anyways, keep the comments and ideas coming. We drive all the way to Chaco Canyon to get food so I know that people will come from all over.
I would serve Vegan Soft Serve ice cream made from Hemp seeds or nuts. It's delish! I used to serve it at my juice bar in Snohomish and I had people driving from Seattle and Bellevue to get buckets of the stuff.

there is definitely support for that type of place in West Seattle.
We are a block from Walker and Cal and would love such a place. Especially the vegan ice cream:-) We try to eat all organic if possible and two of us can't do dairy. If you had good organic food with no dairy options we would be there often!
You'd be only a few blocks from PCC with its in-store deli, juice, and tables. Would that really be a good location for you?
they have a juice bar at PCC? I practically live there and have not seen this. I know they are remodeling and I don't think they are adding a juice bar. But yah..it would be more than what they offer and stuff wouldn't be sitting by the meat options. This cafe would have no animal products. But I got major love for PCC so I would prolly work with them. You can't have too many healthy options. Currently we have too many unhealthy options.
I thought the same thing, Katherine - although I'll admit that even though I shop at PCC all the time, I never think of it as a destination for dining in. And I agree with ACC - I think more healthy options would be good. Nobody seemed to think it was a problem when 2 cupcakes places were on the same block down near Alaska, or multiple coffee places near each other, but they all seem to do well. Oh, and if your cafe has no animal products, I will live there. LOL!
Alki: PCC doesn't have a juice bar as such, but they do sell the pint size Odwalla juices in the cooler. However, Sue could be right about the more healthful options the better.
I'll tell you what I'd like to see: bubble tea smoothies. When I lived in Chicago, one of the first places to serve "bubble tea" did so with fresh fruit smoothies. They used tapioca pearls and a small amount of some kind of tea-syrup. I was hooked, and naturally I thought bubble tea was made this way. Then I moved to Seattle, where all I can find is the nasty powdered drink mix version. Ugh!
Give me the option of putting "bubbles" in my smoothie and I'll be a regular customer. :)

I would absolutely love that, but if I were you I'd try to find out if Chaco Canyon has any plans for the Link space. Honestly, if they open a location here, it'd be some stiff competition for you. If not? Go for it! PCC's deli is great for some items, but it's often difficult to build a cohesive healthful meal from what they have available, especially if one doesn't eat meat and/or dairy.
And we know Odwalla juices are a far cry from organic raw juices. A juice bar - especially if you'd do veggie juices - would be amazing.
I love Chaco but they need to branch out on their food options. They serve the same things and don't add anything different. But still...it's another place that I would work with and not feel like they are competition. When you don't have any options it's kinda exciting to have more than one. In Bellingham they have two cafes like this and we went to lunch at one and dinner at the other when we were up there. I can't decide which one I like best so we have to go to both when we are up there. I think people who eat this way would agree.
Chaco is still working on it - we checked recently - but nothing final yet. Just FYI since somebody mentioned it.

one is called Nama at 1111 State Street. And the other is called Cafe Bloom which is downtown but can't remember the street. Nama had these onion rings that were not fried that we awesome. And a pesto pasta made from seaweed noodles. And Bloom has the best banana coconut cream pie which is a raw dessert that has a date nut crust. So yummy. I had Bloom's raw nut burger. It was also very tasty.
