   I went online to look up information about The Odyssey Center and the site says closed as of January 1st. I have heard nothing about this. Anyone know anything about this?

   I read a while back they were closing. Just not enough visitors to pay to keep it open. We really liked it though must admit we'd only been there once except when we went with school field trips a number of years ago.

   Yes, I heard that they were closing. That was a pretty fun place to go to.

   The Port got tired of having a money loosing tenant and decided to not renew their lease. At least this is what I remember reading.

   Doesn't look like anyone covered its impending closing as a recent reminder so far as I can tell - most recent coverage I could find was this article from last February:

   I think the concept of a maritime museum is of course essential for Seattle ... but honestly, even when our kid was in peak attendance years for that sort of thing, the only time we ever went was the one annual "free day" during the Maritime Festival each spring at Pier 66 - not enough to justify the admission cost otherwise - they might have done better with a low entrance fee. Bummer though that it ended with a whimper and not a bang.

   Local museums and such are really hurting in this economy. If you want to keep them open, GO VISIT! If you want them to have the resources to develop and bring great exhibits to Seattle, GO VISIT!

   I understand the Pacific Science Center just laid off more than a dozen workers, some of whom had been there a very long time. If you haven't seen Lucy yet, go take a look!

   Attend concerts and plays, get memberships in local arts and cultural organizations. Keep our cultural and intellectual life alive through this rough economy. They're difficult to recover once lost.
