Odd Request: Can I borrow your driveway a couple of times a month?

    Hi all,

I have a bit of an odd request I suppose - I'd like to be able to hand wash and vacuum my car but due to my current housing situation this is not possible. What I'd like to do is "borrow" your driveway (and a hose, some water, and electrical outlet) to clean up my car.

I can do it pretty much any time that is convenient for you and I could probably give you a few bucks if that helps. I'm thinking I would probably need about an hour or so of driveway time a few times a month.

Anyone have an open (or very large) driveway they'd be willing to borrow? Let me know in a reply! Thanks!

  3. There's a coin-op car wash on 35th just north of Morgan St. You can wash it for some quarters and the soapy/oily water runs into a special drain system instead of down the street in to the Puget Sound.
Think of all the little fishies! ;-)

    Thanks for those who've responded.

@MargL - I'm aware of the coin-op car wash. They discourage hand washing in their bays. But thanks.

    @redblack - Uh, yeah.

  6. I can assure you I am not being snide in any way, I am genuinely curious... what kind of car? I wish I had the wherewithall to care for my ole' Dodge that way. :) lol

  7. I'm with Redblack here on this one. How dirty does a car really get in the summer when we get very little rain? That's quite a bit of fresh water being used to wash a car a few times per month!

Also curious, is this a Ferrari by chance? Doesn't make it right but feels a bit better!

  8. People, please. When somebody asks for help, they're not asking to be critiqued on their personal choices. That's not what the Forums are about. If you are throwing out a political discussion or some other issue, great. But please, if somebody wants a driveway to wash his/her car, don't be grilling them about whether they're washing it too often.

Rambling aside, I remember how much I loved my first car, 1975 Ford Maverick in 1977. Washed it by hand in a dusty Las Vegas street at least once a week. Now I think we may wash the cars once a year, just not a priority. (And we do it at MargL's suggested car-wash!) But some people like to drive around in a shiny car.

  10. I'm thinking Cool Hand Luke. Might this car washing be anything like that?

OH! If only I had a shareable driveway. I'd trade you space and water in exchange for your hand washing my car, too. I'd even supply the Meguiars!

  13. Karizma:

I have a long driveway and you could easily wash your car there.

In return, I'd like you to wash and vacuum my car also once a month.

    Sound fair?

    Thanks WSB !!! So true!!!
My landlord won't give me access to hose. The water bill! He has no clue how I am a water conservationist. Let me give you my address and bring your own hose. I want to see his face combust!
I do not care for coin ops either and I wish I could offer a place for U. I wish I had a space too. Good luck.
