I read about an occupy presentation scheduled in WS this week but can't find it in the events. Anyone know when and where it is?

Glad you asked, charla. My group, West Seattle Neighbors for Peace & Justice, is putting this event on.
It's this Thursday, January 5, at the West Seattle Library, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
Below is a link to a flyer for the event, plus I'll have more info in the next couple of days.

This is not an officially sanctioned "Occupy Seattle" event. Rather, it's a chance to meet some of the Occupy Seattle participants and to talk about what we as West Seattleites can do to support the movement.

Below is a short Q & A I did with Ms. Anne Maxwell, one of three co-organizers of this Thursday's event at the West Seattle Library . . .
David: What's your personal experience with Occupy Seattle, Anne?
Anne: I have participated in some activities, but I am not an Occupy Seattle organizer. I've been to a rally at Westlake, to the organized march over the Montlake Bridge, to some general assemblies in the Convention Center, and to some workgroup meetings.
D: So what's the January 5 WS Library meeting all about?
A: We want to give West Seattle residents a chance to meet face-to-face to Occupy Seattle participants, to give people a chance to find out more about Occupy, and to find out whether people would like to have ongoing meetings in WS, maybe something like mini-general assemblies.
D: Who will be making presentations there?
A: There will be people who have been involved with Occupy Seattle workgroups, including the Gender Equality Workgroup, the Money Out of Politics Workgroup, Outreach, and others. There will also be representatives from various "affinity groups" -- groups that have been connecting with the Occupy movement in one way or another. This includes Veterans for Peace, Sisters Organizing for Survival, the Washington Fellowship of Reconciliation, and the Washington Public Bank Coalition. After the presentations, there will be time for Q & A, and also some unstructured time for people to talk with each other and share ideas.
D: Who would you like to see at this meeting? Who do you think will benefit from it?
A: I would most like people who don't think of themselves as activists but who care deeply about the world they live in. Many people know about the Occupy movement only from what they read or see in mainstream media. I want people who are curious about the movement to get a different perspective; I want them to hear about it directly from those who have been participating. I also think this meeting would be a benefit for people who are already active in grassroots activism but who don't normally connect up with people who are doing something different from what they're doing.
So please do come see us this Thursday at the Libe (6 to 7:30 PM) but when you're traipsing through the reading area keep your voice down out of courtesy to others.Oh yeah . . . one other thing . . .

Bonus Q & A:
David: Will there be plenty of free "I Am The 99%" stickers at this event?
Anne: Oh, indubitably!

We're planning to be there -- if only for the bumperstickers and company of folks who say indubitably. :-)
