What on earth does "loving the country" mean? Is it blindly supporting unjust wars? Is it blindly following the worst administration in American history as our nation crumbles to its core? I remember very vividly how "unamerican" dissent was in the lead up to the Iraq War. How those people protesting "hated America", "blamed America first". While those who blindly followed W. into a disaster were "patriotic".
It seems to me like most people have a real relationship with America- of course we love the promise and opportunity it brings, but it doesn't make you unable/incapable of seeing it's many faults. Saying America has many faults, and working to improve and/or change them as Michelle has done her entire life, to me, is the definition of loving America.
The relationship the far right, and folks like W., or Palin seem to view the country as some psycho headcase never to be criticized. Any words uttered that dare question its greatness, or actually examine its policies and actions- are disgraceful acts of betrayal. It is upsurd. These people don't love America, they love a comic-book and are too stupid to offer any ideas to help improve something they already view as perfect and infallable.
