Not to think I matter...

  1. I have to go away for awhile. From the forum, not the city.

This is a great community of people. I Love West Seattle. But I have a ton of personal matters to deal with.

I will check in at times but I wish all of you the best. Thank You for your kindness and support when our first Basset Hound went to doggy heaven. And also Thank You for your kind words when I was let go from full-time employment after 20 years. Please continue supporting our friends like you always do when they need help.

When the NFL starts up again, you may see me at the Heartland watching the Green Bay Packers trying to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. I think they have a 30 to 1 shot. I will be rooting for the Seahawks too. In fact on some of their home games you might see me holding the big round parabolic dish with a Microphone. Yes, I love working in sports.

I have some major hurdles heading my way with family and pets. And if any of you are thinking about adopting, I leave you with this advice. Have a strong support network and a good exercise plan. These kids are awesome but many are hurting or have some type of damage, and the subconscious brings out many issues to the conscious. Always Love Them. In the end, it is up to the child to decide how they want the world to view them. We as parents can only try to show them the way. West Seattle is a nurturing community and a great place to raise a family.

My only wish is that there were a few more Republicans in this area. I want to thank JoB, JanS, Charla and C@tlbob among many others. Thanks for the memories.

Rich, I'm so sorry to hear your family may be going through a rough patch. As I told you privately, a very good friend is involved in adopting a daughter from Russia and may well have come up with a support network that could help you and your family. If you ever want us to find out more -- or just to talk, please let me know. charla at charla dot com. Our very best to all of you -- charlabob and catlbob

rich: "not to think i matter?" come on, dude. you're an important part of this forum. are we socialist cuckoos expected to sit in this cage by ourselves, preening and squawking about our own moral and political superiority with no one to throw us crackers?

good luck with whatever you have going on in your life. i know i haven't been on here long, and that our sparring gets heated at times; but remember that you have a community of real people out here who care about you.

keep us posted when you find time, to let us know you're still kicking. even if it is from a socialist dial-up library computer.

    just kidding.

  5. Whether or not we ever agreed with you is what really doesn't matter. You made us think and gave us rich ground for stimulating intellectual and political dialog. We will miss your postings and await your return to the forums. Best wishes for you and your family. We will hold you in our thoughts and prayers.

Take care Rich. Hope all works out for the better. Echoing RBs post, mostly.
You have a community of support.

  7. Let's cut to the chase, Rich. How much do we have to pay you to stay?

Will you take it in installments or are you going to insist on a lump sum?

Be reasonable, man. I'm sure we can work something out.

  8. Good luck and I hope all works out for the best. It's fun to bat the issues of the day back and forth but your family life has to be your priority.

  9. HMC! I'd been wondering where you were. I'm sorry to hear about your personal issues, and know that if you need anything, these forums are a great place to turn for networking, favors, etc. I've always so appreciated your voice on here and hope to see ya on the flip side.

Look forward to seeing you back in the future. While I don't always agree with your views, I have appreciated your willingness to see the other side. You're proof that many of us, whether liberal or conservative or independent (or any other label imposed on us) are really not so far apart after all. At least I'd like to think so.

  11. I don't know you Rich, but I appreciated your input.

Your posts have been thoughtful and considered and not made just to get someone p.o.ed. Good luck with your RL challenges.

  12. Rich, you do matter. I, too, am sorry that you're having a rough patch. I'm familiar with rough patches, although of a different sort. I hope eventually, when it's all calmed down a bit that you can come back and visit us every once in a while. First Carson, now you...our world is getting smaller, and definitely not for the better :(

HMC Rich: Thanks for your thoughtful presentation of ideas. You will be missed as a voice of reason. Not everyone gets that rap! Hope things settle with the least pain possible.

  16. Thank You. You are such kind people. But I knew that.

I have been killing myself getting ready for the Royal Wedding, since Helen is from the UK. We are flying the Union Jack for now. Because we dumped cable and Directv, I had to get a converter box so I could record it for her on our DVD player and I didn't want to buy a TIVO.

Listen, I am OK. But I do have a cat that isn't going to last much longer (I think) plus the woman who helped raise me as a teenager (my 91 year old Grandmother) has some health issues with Lymphoma.

We have been going to Children's Hospital for our son and they have been great, but I need to focus on him even more. He just has a slight problem from being raised in an orphanage. Many of our friends who have adopted have some similar issues.

There is just so much to do and not enough time. Fortunately I am on the cusp of expanding my skills in sports television. I am so lucky to have been hired part time by the University of Washington, The Seattle Mariners and Root Sports.
Each season, things just keep getting better.

And I am coaching a Tee Ball team. OMG, it is hilarious but wonderful. My kids parents are so great, just like most of the West Seattle residents. Thanks.

I even made it down to the Feedback Lounge for two hours last night and saw my old friend Jeff and few other people from my past.

JoB, thanks for the call. I am OK.

Thank You all again. See you soon you flippin' bleeding heart....friends.
