Nickelsville Water Report, and >>Upcoming Need

  1. Due to prior committments, we will be unable to do our daily water runs for NV water July 8 thru July 23. We will do the normal 4 pm run on Thursday July 7 and resume daily service at 4pm on Sunday July 24.

If you are able to assist during this hiatus I am sure NV would be most appreciative. NV Richard has been key on-site for the jug pickup and delivery. I normally pickup all the day's empties at 4 or 4:30 and try to have them back before camp meeting (6 pm). I am sure small deliveries of a jug or two anytime during the day would be great too.

Water usage at the camp has been averaging 80-90 gallons a day. There have been some lighter days and when we encounter those we try suggest they change out dish water, water plants, etc to keep the jugs turned over and to get maximum benefit from the load. Since delivery start (June 8) we have seen two spike days at 120-125 gallons demand, but I try to enforce my haul limit of one trip of 22 jugs maximum.(110-115 gallons is max payload capacity of my truck until I lose some weight ;>)

    Thanks!

  2. bump..

    this is a critical need...
unless the city turns on the tap..
or someone else with a pick-up steps up...
Nickelsville will essentially be without water on the 8th.

At the point where BK stepped in..
i and another woman were hauling 5 water jugs at a time...

at today's consumption that is 7 car trips a day...

it beats nothing... but it sure won't keep a camp nearing 150 people in water.

  3. I should mention that NV does an amazing job conserving their water resources. That's not very much water use when you consider how many people are served!

I will help keep the post near the top also JoB.

    JoB,

When you say "the tap," do you mean an existing water line on or near the city property, as opposed to making a new connection to the water main along W. Marginal Way?

  5. I can volunteer a source for water, South Admiral area.

  6. Thanks BK, for starting this thread. I was going to start one last evening, but could not get a wi-fi connection to do so. (Well, except once while in my tent, but there was not enough daylight left, and my small Mag light stopped working. Gotta check the batteries.)

If someone with a vehicle with the capacity to haul the water could connect with Gina, that would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks again, everyone!

Don't tell me you have wi-fi at the camp. I wonder if there's a signal strong enough to piggy back on. Of course miws, you would know by now.

So, BK (the water angels), if 20 people per day brought five gallons (or ten handled ten), that would do it. I'm thinking in feasible increments for those of us w/o pu trucks or find the entire task too daunting. If you said, "Kim, every Tuesday you'll deliver five (or ten) gallons of water", this I could/would do. Other ideas?

  13. anglescrest...
i suspect water delivery in the next couple of weeks is going to look exactly like that in the next couple of weeks...
what i worry about are the days when no-one delivers any:(

I guess what I'm asking is if there's community/WSB support for divvying up the task and making a schedule.

  16. Perhaps SPU needs to test this system that has been inplace for 5 years.

    Mike,
Do have anything definite? Do you want me to try to organize a delivery schedule?

    Posted 10 months ago #
  20. angelescrest..

    please do.
it looks like there is movement to come up with a more organized solution by city agencies...
but they aren't going to move fast enough to deliver water to the camp this weekend...

    their last delivery was today.

Gina is willing to provide a source for water in the S Admiral area.

what we need now are people willing to transport empty jugs to Gina's or their own home and take them back to Nickelsville full of water.

jugs are mostly open top 5 gal water cooler type containers.
