I'm tired of all the news helicopter hovering over the WS Bridge covering traffic. How about you? Call KOMO and the other news stations and let them know that there are street cameras and we don't need live coverage from every angle possible.

Well, actually there aren't. I don't condone routine helicopter use but this week for example it's the only way to get a look at the low bridge, which does NOT have a steady camera on it. We are working with KING on our traffic coverage and I've appreciated their shots a few times a morning showing the high AND low bridges in the same frame. FYI my last employer (Q13) does NOT have a helicopter, so don't bother calling them. The other three do. - Tracy

I wouldn't just call all stations. I have no problem identifying the station by the call letters on the side of the helicopter. Of course, the fact that I can easily do that because of how low they are is part of the problem, isn't it?

I think it's time for the WSB to get a helicopter. Even though they are already first on the scene, just imagine how much quicker they could be with a set of rotating blades! Let's make this happen!! Who's with me???

I am voting for a WSB hovercraft or hot air balloon. The balloon would be quieter and whimsical.

What? Haven't you all seen the WSB zeppelin?!

I think I saw a Groupon for rides on it earlier, actually. Hmmm.

And all the other local news reporters are scrambling on how to copy the WSB.

Not to be outdone some other local news guys launched their own "flying machine" shortly after the WSB introduced their zeppelin:

But their tag lines are considerably less catchy:
"We're the news source your grandma reads. On paper."
or
"We've been lining bird cages since the 1920's!"

We don't need flying machines. You all are the wind beneath our wings.
(separately) Re: the helicopters close enough to read - Sorry, in most cases they've been flying in the pre-dawn hours. If they're close enough THEN to read, the heck with calling their owners, call the FAA! The helicopter pilots, seriously, are very experienced and very meticulous about safety ... the assignments are not their fault, though, there's somebody back at HQ saying "oh, just stay there a LITTLE BIT longer, we've got a live bump coming up in five minutes..."
