Hi, My husband and I are in our mid-50's and just moved by Alki Beach. We've moved 3 times in the 3 years we've lived in Seattle and hope this will be our last move for a while. We moved here from Boise, ID.

Any suggestions for good places for us to go within walking distance that are fun for things like the Super Bowl, happy hour, food or live music (jazz or blues)? I've walked by lots of options. We like the more diverse age/income population that we have noticed in West Seattle compared to Belltown and Queen Anne neighborhoods, although we liked those areas, too.

West Seattle just feels like it will feel more like home once we're used to it. Loved today at the beach with sunshine!

    Thanks for any ideas!

  2. Cactus (Alki and 63rd) has great drinks and food(Mexican).casual atmosphere - TV in the bar, I believe.. Superbowl? I'm betting the Celtic Swell will have the game on...again...good beer/food. Seafood? Duke's on Alki/ Then...more good food at Phoenicia...coffee at the bakery at Alki and 61st. Pizza at Pegasus...Pho and Bahn Mi sandwiches at The Saigon Boat. Casual fish and chips? Sunfish at Alki and 62nd. Up the hill in the Admiral District there's Mission (Southwestern food), there's Circa Neighborhood Bar and Grill. There's Royal India Grill for Indian food, and the Mahwadda Cafe for Falafel and other things (no alcohol). Intimate Italian? there's La Rustica. Now..if you want a place with good music you may have to venture farther. Like, out of West Seattle...to 1414 Alaskan Way and the Highway 99 Blues Club.(yep, will have to drive)

And, for what it's worth, you are in the best little place anywhere around Seattle. West Seattle is the very best!

  3. Click on the 'Restaurants' tab (in red) at the top of the page (between the light pole and the roller-blader) for some additional info.

Welcome to our little slice of paradise!

Thanks for your input! I spent the last 2 days enjoying the sunny beach. Great place and the people are so friendly! :)

I'm amazed at the beauty on this side of Seattle. I thought it was gorgeous on the other side but this is stunning!

I know this is not within walking distance, but it is just a short car/bus ride away. Locöl Barley & Vine is one great little place. 7902 35th Ave SW.

I grew up in Milwaukee and I was looking for something comparable to the neighborhood taverns/pubs found there. Locöl fits the bill nicely.
