New to the area. Where can we find?

  1. 1. A place that does free tire rotation? I used to use bigotires over in Northgate.

    2. An affordable and honest BMW mechanic or shop?

    3. The nearest KIA shop that honors dealer warranty?

    4. Where is the best PIZZA on this side of the water?

I hope this is all in the right spots for general questions. Again I am knew, so please hold the flames if this should all be somewhere else =)

An honest AND affordable Beemer mechanic...oxymoron. Take it back across the water to Autohaus

  4. Second Proletariat. Though Himself and I had dinner at Spiro's tonight, good Greek style.

And then head across the street to Full Tilt for ice cream and pinball!

Both places are very family friendly.

dunno about the foreign car mechanics - but you might try the foreign car workshop on 37th ave SW, one block north of alaska street in the triangle.

pizza? if you like NY-style slices, talarico's is your joint. on california ave, just north of the crosswalk between alaska and edmunds on the east side of the street. kid-friendly until 9. after that... well, it gets random.

  7. Welcome to West Seattle! You will love it here...

And yes, you're in the right place for questions. Glad you found the blog.

Free tire rotation? Les Schwab on 4th Ave and soon to have a new store in what is known as the triangle - I believe it's at the corner of Fauntleroy & Alaska.

BMW mechanic or shop? I hear good things about West Seattle Autoworks on 35th.

Nearest KIA shop? No help here...

Best PIZZA? Many opinions will be offered here; you must give Red Star Pizza a try on 35th north of Holden. My wife won't let me bring pizza home from anywhere else...

Enjoy the pursuit of new adventures!

  8. An affordable and honest BMW mechanic or shop?

    I LOL'd.

I also have trouble holding in my mind the contradiction of a Kia and a BMW parked in the same driveway/garage. Seems something like a matter/anti-matter reaction would quickly ensue.

The pizza question was asked here not long ago. Here's that forum thread:

Plus, WSB's own Christopher Boffoli and a panel of local judges attempted to find the Best Pizza in West Seattle awhile back. Here's that story. Don't forget to check the comments, too:

  9. Chrisma..

i have to point out that neither Red Star Pizza or Proletariat were in the running in the pizza challenge since they had not yet opened.

Having since tested both pizzas, i am not so sure our results would have been the same if they had been.

  10. Good point, JoB.

With pizza places named Red Star and Proletariat, is our peninsula breeding Bolsheviks?

I suppose to be completist we should mention the other newcomer Pizerria 22. I haven't been there myself, but here's the forum reviews:

For Kia service, there's nothing in West Seattle for warranty work that I know of. For dealers, the best is to head north to Chuck Olson. A long way, I know, but the service is better and cheaper than Renton Kia.

Try West Seattle Autoworks for the BMW. You can get pizza at Red Star across the street.

I'm still a Pagliacci fan since we usually only get pizza when it's delivered. Aside from the places mentioned, Pegasus is good too.

  13. what is the name of the newish place in Morgan junction? We had pizza there not so long ago and i was pleasantly surprised.
    i wouldn't mind going back.

Zeeks? it wasn't one of those tested either.

is it time for another pizza testing?

  14. I used to get Pagliacci all the time, but they don't deliver to Highland Park. Pity.
