    Hi all.

LOVE West Seattle. Still have some fact finding missions to accomplish. Can ANYONE help with day care issues? I've looked at all the PEPS recommended centers and still am finding a hard time locating a reputable place that will accomodate our requirements as far as days required as my husband is a firefighter and works an extremely weird schedule. Also, any recommendations for dentists, doctors, etc.

Thanks in advance to all who answer!

    Hey Stacy -

Maybe you could change your heading of your post so it is more specific to daycare. Folks might just scan right over it....or you could just start a new thread with the same query if you are unable to edit. Just a thought. Oh, I don't have any info to offer about daycare. Just a forum busy body ;).

    Hi westseattledoog...
Looks like you're a dog lover too.. we have two ourselves. Thanks for the input. This is my first post and haven't had much time to try to navigate my way through here. I appreciate your advice! I'll definitely narrow down my topic of discussion next time!

    Hi Stacy!

Welcome to West Seattle! You don't day what area of West Seattle you are interested in for day care and also the age of your child or children, that information will help people assist you in finding day care options. We never used day care but I know there are many home daycares around as well as Fauntleroy Childrens Center and West Seattle YMCA does offer childcare. I know this topic has been discussed many times on this blog so maybe type in daycare in the search area.

    Good luck!

  5. in the top right corner of the forum page you will find a search box... enter daycare or dentist or ... and as long as you leave the WSB box checked... you will find everything anyone here has posted on the subject...

it remains to be seen if you will find any of it helpful:)

Thanks to you all that replied. Here's just another quick question...when it lists "reply" at the end of the page of replies to my original message, does this go out to all of you? Sorry to be so ignorant, couldn't find some link to reply to just one person. Anywhoo, thanks to luckymom30 but I've already called both YMCA and Fauntleroy. YMCA is full and Fauntleroy is really more than I'm wanting to pay for as I don't need but just 2.5 days worth of care. But.. from what I'm seeing here in WS is that there isn't much to offer and what is offered and you really think your child is safe at is pretty expensive. So I complain....I guess I'd better get used to it. Still, that being said, if anyone can help, PLEASE let me know!!

    Thanks! Stacy

Oh, I forgot to add...I'd even interview home care individuals if anyone knows of any at this time...
    Thanks again!

  8. Hi Stacy!

Yep, when you hit "Reply" evryone can see it. The Forum doesn't have a Private Message feature.

If you want to have a more private conversation with an individual poster, and don't want to post your usual e-mail address, TR the WSB Editor, often suggest setting up a Google g-mail, or similar disposable account.

Some people here occasionally will offer their e-mail addys to have a one on one.

In any case, if you post your addy here, it's best to do it something like: name<at>isp<dot>com.

That helps prevent the spamming bots from harvesting e-mail addys off of the Forum.

    Hi Stacy!

Sorry to hear you are having so many problems finding daycare! Here is my email address:
wsparents@comcast dot net just write me and hopefully I can help you out. There is a wonderful daycare right in our neighborhood. Our daughter went to West Seattle YMCA just part time only 2-3 days a week for 2 1/2 to 3 hours each time.

    Hope to hear from you!

  10. Hi Stacy,

I recommend Sharon's Little Wonders (206-937-5038) located in the High Point area. She cared for my children for several years, was flexible about part-time care, safe, and was very affordable for us! I miss Sharon. Good luck in your search- I agree that child care can be very difficult to find here.

    Stacy,
I urge you to NOT NOT NOT use Sharon's Little Wonders. I would be happy to discuss with you the reasons why via private email. I have no desire to broadcast details on the web but feel obligated to steer you away from this particular in-home daycare. Please feel free to email me if you would like more information.

  12. Hi! Just my 2 cents - for 2.5 days I'd look at a nanny share / nanny situation. Most places are going to have wait lists and not be only 2.5 days on a funky schedule.

We love Dr. Dagg at Swedish West Seattle (3rd floor family practice) and Dr. Tweedy's ped dental office.

    Welcome to the neighborhood!
