Did anyone else see this Schrammie award that was handed out to Dannette Smith, director of the Seattle Human Services Department?

Dannette Smith wants to SHUT DOWN "The Outdoor Meal Site" under I-5. This very successful program has been in operation for 17 years and was started by "Operation Sack Lunch" which was started by singer songwriter Beverly Graham back in 1989.
.
Imagine... a private solution that really WORKS!

Now where does Nickelsville fit into this picture? Operation Sack Lunch ALSO feeds lunch to our friends at Nickelsville 5 days a week.
.
I have seen the lunches that are being served at Nickelsville. Not JUST a sack lunch, but a HOT lunch consisting of various soups, stews, and fresh fruit such as apples and bananas.
.
If Dannette Smith is successful in shutting down "The Outdoor Meal Site" then who might be her next target(s)?
.
We need to call and write the city with our outrage at her proposal!
.
You can find all the city contact phone numbers and email addresses on the Operation Sack Lunch web site.
.
Time is of the essence. Ms Smith wants to close The Outdoor Meal Site as of February 29, 2012.

Kevin, I love ya, man, but this reminds me of those smart phone commercials where the people without the particular phone are just a couple of seconds behind those that do have it, in their receiving the latest news! ;-)

Egg on my face - shame on me :) I actually did see that thread previously. I think the excitement of seeing Ms Smith win a Schrammie got me going, and BTW, Ken Schram is also on the OSL Board of Directors.

Thanks for posting Kevin because I didn't bother to open the other thread because the headline didn't catch my attention. Yours did. Thanks.

Hey, the good intentions are there, and the more attention this gets the better.
Just couldn't resist giving you a bad time!
And actually Bonnie brings up a very good point, as nothing in the title of the other thread indicates what it's really about.

This policy turnaround took less than 24 hours.
that is the power of public pressure...Yes, we can:)
We just can't count on our elected officials to do it for us.
it's going to take a little effort from usthanks to everyone who took the time to call or email the mayor's office and the city council
