I just stumbled onto this search engine that donates money to the ASPCA when people use the site.

New Search Engine that Helps Animals

Interesting gimmick. Dogpile's been around quite some time and it used to be good - it checked all the major search engines, which was particularly important before Google morphed from good to exceptional - but then Dogpile started folding in paid results that overwhelmed the "real" results, without setting them apart the way Google does with its paid results, and I stopped using them. Trying to find out how much per click they are donating - did you see that anywhere?

Dogpile is at least a dozen years old. This is a marketing tool to generate traffic to their site. You can read all about the strategy here.

"We also like the fact that animal lovers are a very large and very targetable segment. And what I mean by that is there’s enough animal lovers, it’s large enough to make a real impact on Dogpile."
It is still true however, that they will donate up to 1 million to the ASPCA. Just don't believe it's anything but an ad campaign.
"We’re very, very excited about this. This is something that we can really engage people in emotionally around a great cause and we know we can generate long-term Dogpile users."
