new school bus plan

My son is in third grade and is expected to walk almost a mile to get to the school bus? Am I the only one who finds this a total safety concern and a slap in the face to people who are most in need?

Why don't they ever cut the fat and fraud downtown? Their first reaction is always to protect the corruption and cut services first.

Maybe you get to have some quality time and walk with him? Or have him walk with a group of friends .. scary though...I didn't let mine walk to school until they were in 6th grade. I was lucky though, I worked at home and her mom drove to work at the same time...and there were lots of neighbors who walked or drove to share a watchful eye. You will find some neighbors to help out I am sure.

  4. Get together with other families in the neighborhood and start a "walking school bus". I'm sure there is a lot of information on how to do it on the interwebs. I think CoolMom has also been involved in getting some organized in various places.
