Need Low-Key Real Estate Agent Recommendation

  1. Partner and I would like recommendations for easy-going, low-key agent to show us a few homes (read: \"affordable ones\"). Not dying to buy, and we can see most properties on our own: just need someone to occasionally show and help us close if we find something.

Scott Monroe. West Seattle based and awesome!!! My fiance used him for his first home three years ago and was very impressed. ( @ that tiem \"affordability\" was the key) We used him a year ago for \"our\" first home together and I was blown away. Not only did he listen to what we wanted and our budget, but i could tell he was very subjective and honest when looking @ the homes structure etc as whether or not it woudl be a long lasting place. Scott was also very patient we looked for 10 months to find out perfect home. Scott Monroe is amazing!

  4. I\'d say you\'re a perfect candidate for Redfin.
    http://www.redfin.com

The folks at Redfin will help you as much or as little as you want. We enjoyed working with them when we were in the market (we no longer are, having found a great rental). We did all the background research ourselves and contacted Redfin to help us make an offer. My husband and I would highly recommend them to anyone who doesn\'t need the traditional real estate \"hand-holding\".

  5. Ken Arkills of PNW Realty 206.310.3670. Great guy. Can\'t say enough good about him. He has guided me through 2 purchases and 1 sale of homes in the West Seattle area. He as was extremely professional is a very unfortunate dealing with Redfin, who would be the LAST agency that I would deal with. Redfin gave a new meaning to unethical.

  6. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Redfin. Our experience was excellent, and I wouldn\'t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

  8. We bought our place with Joe and Lonnie Logan of Re/Max Nortwest realty http://www.seattlehomeseller.com

I cant recommend them enough, they actually tried to talk us out of a purchase because they didnt think it was right for us (overpriced, etc). We ended up in a different home and so far no complaints! We\'ll definitely use them when selling/buying again.

  9. I would be remiss not to mention there are two realtors in the WSB sponsorship group at the moment - James Mahler and Charlie Burnett - so if you have occasion to check out more than the recommendations you get, please find their ads in the sidebar and talk with them too; we haven\'t been in the real-estate market for a long time and so haven\'t any personal experience, but we do advocate support for those who sponsor the site and therefore make it possible for us to operate it! (And then when it comes time for a mortgage, there\'s Rhonda \"The Mortgage Porter\"!) - thanks, TR

Go with Ken Arkills at Prudential NW Realty. He helped me sell my old home and buy my new one here in WS. If you need an agent who\'ll respond to your needs, Ken Arkills is the right choice!

  13. Shelby White, of West Seattle Realty, is a great West Seattle business owner/agent. 206 501 7601. He knows our market extremely well, lives here, raises his kids here, and is a decent guy.

  14. I second, third and fourth the recommendation for Scott Monroe -- I\'ve bought and sold 3 houses with him as well as a commercial property -- VERY professional, gets the job done (when we\'ve had a very unmotivated and worthless agent on the opposing side) and is truly \"low-key\".
    Phone# is 206-406-9388

  15. I\'m not a agent, but low key means get the lowest price possible.(lol)

Since i\'ve been around West Seattle about a hundred years, I know a couple good ones.

Carl Trotter, Craig Roberts, Lori Brandell. I think all of these may have smoked pot one time or another and have laid backkkkkkk. lol

  16. Ken Arkills has helped me with 6 of my properties over the years. Each time, he has been acessable, very professional and spot on with his pricing. I am thanksful to Ken for all his help and truly believe nobody knows West Seattle better.

When my wife and I bought a townhouse in West Seattle we didn't use an agent. I believe the seller accepted a lower offer price because a commission was not taken out of the sales proceeds.

I recommended Ken Arkills three years ago and I would still recommend him today. Ken Arkills will work hard to help you buy or sell your home.

He understands the meaning of customer service and truly appreciates his customers—long after he’s helped them buy or sell a house. Trust me, you got to hire this guy and see for yourself.

    You’ll be amazed!

Alex Eckardt. Amazing and above all, realistic. Good listener and a great knowledge of the area. Also, incredibly thorough in the all important paperwork phase.

We used him and would never recommend anyone else.

    Here's his website:

  20. I used Marisa Watts with Visum Real Estate Group. She was a good listener, thorough, and very knowledgeable. http://visumrealestategroup.com

  21. I have worked with Ken Arkills going on 12 years and through over 30 transactions, 4 of which where my own personal deals. He is professional & knowlegable expert in Real Estate.
I would not hesitate recommending Ken as a buying or selling agent. Hands on from the start to finish.

Honest, Trustworthy, Available, Down-to-Earth, Hard-working, Caring, Thoughtful, Insightful, non-Pushy, Innovative, and a Builder! Those are just a few of the words to describe Scott! We heart Scott Monroe! We moved cross country (RELO), and he was there with us every step of the way. We called him while interviewing for a job in Seattle, and he was eager to take us on. Even though it might not of even turned into anything. He was patient with our wish list, and in fact found us a house that has exceeded our expectations!

This is the sixth house we have bought, and have done several remodels, so we weren’t new to the buying process, just new to Seattle. He sat with us and gave us the positives and negatives of every property we looked at. Had has the insight to see if there are major structural issues, or a diamond in the rough… He goes the extra mile on everything – from contracting referrals, to the best restaurants in the area and even working to find you the best rates.

We know the difference between the realtor who just wants to make a sale vs. a realtor who wants to make a life for you. Scott Monroe is the real deal. If you are in the mode for a buyers or sellers agent, in my opinion he is the best in the area.

And no, I am not related to him!

Have to recommend Jim Biava from Windemere/Morgan Junction. 45+ year WS resident, has been in the real estate biz in WS for 30+yrs. He very low key and obviously very knowledgeable about the area and it's history. We learned much about old WS from him just by him showing us around. He has never been pushy, and his talks in everyday language when it comes to real eatate lingo. Have referred friends and family to him, all very pleased. http://www.jimbiava.com 206-3872683

  25. Jill Campbell from Prudential is wonderful. She lives and works in West Seattle and knows everything there is to know about West Seattle real estate. Highly recommend her. I think this is her number... 932-4500

  26. I had a great experience with EJ Gong of Windermere. (206) 604-0745, ejgong@windermere.com. He was timely, responsive, honest and low-key. The place I ultimately bought came with complications. He flagged the potential issues way before they emerged. He stuck with it when the issues seemed unlikely to get resolved. He represented my interests ably and accurately. Can't get better than that!
