Hi there. Our favorite blackberry picking spot has been shorn clean. Anybody want to give away their fav. spot? :) I'm also looking for some good U-Picks for blueberries or raspberries. I'm making jam. Yum yum.

Hey ellen -
I don't think there was enough sun this summer for blackberry bushes to fruit out (is that a word?) the way they typically seem to do. I've been noticing since around the end of July or so that bushes have very few blossoms, but scads of super vines and leaves.
Raspberry Jam? My fave.

ellen... don't tell anyone... but there is a place by where I live that has some excellent ones - I picked enough for a cobbler.

I just took a cobbler out of the oven made from locally picked berries. Smells sooo good.
I walked around the neighborhood looking for vines overgrowing onto the sidewalk, and checked in dead end alleys below embankments. Also check public staircases. Blackberry bushes always seem to be overgrowing those.
The spiders seem to be doing quite well this year, especially those that spin webs on blackberry bushes.

Great blueberry farm if you're willing to travel to North Bend...http://www.bybeenimsfarms.com/
Cost is $1.75/lb, they have 6 different varieties. They'll be going for at least another 2 weeks, probably longer. Went yesterday and they still have loads. At the foot of Mt Si so you can't ask for a more beautiful spot.Raspberries are done, as far as I know. Only two places I've found where they have upick are Harvold's in Carnation (also strawberries in June) and Remlinger. Harvold's was done about 2 weeks ago; not sure about Remlinger.
And ok, I'll give up my spot b/c I don't think it's THAT much of a secret...Riverview Park. Along the trail on the east side of the ball fields. I picked 2 weeks ago and got enough for a cobbler after 20 minutes or so. Lots of unripe berries at the time but I've yet to get back. Watch the big dip though...so tempting to get at those perfect berries, but the ground drops way down below some of those bushes! Good luck!

Wow. Thanks(es)!!. And you guys are killing me with your closely guarded spots. :) So funny. I feel the same way and was wondering if anybody would give up the dirt.
ghar72, Thanks. I'm totally willing to travel and the others are good to know for next year.

Green River Bike Trail - SE of the Boeing Credit Union. Although a Mom and child were gathering quite a bundle there yesterday, the bushes are still full of almost ripe berries.

39th SW and Cloverdale. The two streets end there and there's a stairway about half a block long (70 steps or so?) that has blackberries on both sides.
