Looking for a good Chinese restaurant. Needs to have vegetarian options, no MSG and open on Sundays. Not in WS ok, we\'re willing to travel.
Thanks all!

i have to say we haven\'t found one yet:(
so i would add to that request really good dim sum.
(my brain has holes today so i don\'t know if i named it right.. the little bites that come around on a tray)
How about great Thai Food too?
We just went to Happy Garden in Burien last week, which we really liked. It got several good reviews on yelp.com, which is why we went there. You can read the reviews at http://tinyurl.com/68hb7n
It\'s at 14301 Ambaum. It reminded me more of chinese food I would get back in NYC, which is probably why I liked it.
I like Ho-Win on California and Juneau. I have eaten there many times and really enjoy their food.
Jen...Go to Bamboo Garden on Roy St. by Seattle Center...totally vegetarian, and yummy...when it says beef or chicken on the menu, it\'s still vegetarian..
Jan- been there and love it. However, this is for my Dad\'s b-day, and he wants \"real Chinese\" (ie: with meat) we will just have some vegetarians in the party. But Bamboo Garden gets my vote!
I second the Ho-Win recommendation. We really enjoy eating there.
Ho Win gets our vote!
does Ho-Win use MSG?
Really, Ho Win???? Who\'d of thunk it!!!
hey bdg: for great Thai- Buddha Ruksa hands down. Corner of 36th and Genessee.
i will have to try there... thx
Schezuan Chef in Bellevue has excellent Chinese food, but I can\'t confirm the use of MSG, although I\'m guessing they don\'t. They have a huge menu, great reviews from the Seattle Times and plenty of options to suit those who crave either authentic Chinese food or the American version. This place satisfies my simpleton parents who hate anything spicy and their kids, who are willing to try anything authentic. If you go there on the weekend, it\'s full of Chinese people so you know it\'s good and worth the 15 mile drive from WS. Seven Stars Pepper in the ID is also a good option, given the owners of Schezuan Chef opened that place years ago.
CMP...do your \"simpleton\" parent\'s read this blog? lol..if so, they now know what you think about them and their Chinese food choices - lol....
Definitely not Jan...my Mom probably wouldn\'t even know how to find this blog! Plus they live in Bellevue so it\'s not exactly appliable to them. They grew up in Chicago and like their comfort food, nothing too out there. Don\'t let that discourage anyone from trying out this restaurant though...it\'s good stuff! I think it\'s better than Lee\'s Asian, which I\'m surprised to see has not gotten any mention here, although the ambiance leaves much to be desired.
I just got back from Ho-Win - all this talk of chinese food made me hungry. Their menu does not mention MSG, and I never ask since I don\'t have a sensitivity to it. So I would call to ask. Their website is http://ho-win.cwok.com/index.html
HO-WIN Rocks!! Lee\'s Asian in the Junction is also pretty good!
Seven Stars Pepper in the ID (Jackson and 12th, I think) is the best Chinese I\'ve had in Seattle. Very authentic (it\'s full of Chinese people). Shanghai Garden in the ID is also excellent. Both places are pretty large and so could accommodate a large group. Nothing I\'ve had in West Seattle comes close (and I\'ve had both Ho-Win and Lee\'s Asian).
I am not sure if Ho-Win uses MSG but I am sure you can ask for them not to use any MSG.
I recently found out I am allergic to MSG- or at least extremely sensitive- I break out in itching, red face, and get an immediate headache...and it seems like some places almost see it as an insult when I ask if they use it. Thanks all for your suggestions - I have a lot to work with now!
I stumbled across a great International District restaurant review site http://msg150.com/ which was also mentioned by the PI this week.

Won\'t help find a place here in Seattle but it\'s a fun read and a good resource if you\'re going across the Bridge.
MargL- what a great website! Thank you!
For Thai we like Olarn, on California. It is quiet and the food is fantastic!
Err... I meant to say \'find a place here in -West- Seattle\'... :-)
Ok...You\'ll laugh at this one, but they have great chinese food at Roxbury Lanes. Yes--You heard me, Roxbury Lanes the (bowling alley). They have a real chinese guy cooking. I have never met a chinese dish their I didn\'t like and the portions are very generous while the prices are very cheap. If it wasn\'t good, I wouldn\'t have said anything.
Interesting - we heard the same rumor about the place in West Seattle Bowl so we tried it and didn\'t think it wasn\'t much better than Safeway\'s deli food. Didn\'t know Roxbury Lanes did Chinese food, too.
ah, but there is a caveat: if you want Chinese and it\'s his night off, you\'re on your own with the American cooks. conversely, if you want American food when the Chinese chef is working, be prepared to get something odd. My friend asked for an egg salad sandwich...and got an egg...with salad...and bread. Some of the best wonton soup I have had though, with baby bok choy...no msg that my detectors picked up! Little known fact, Roxy\'s bar is a great place to watch a Seahawks game. Two big screen tv\'s, cheap greasy appetizers and drink specials.
You can\'t beat Judy Fu\'s Snappy Dragon in the 8900 block of Roosevelt Way NE.
Salt & Pepper squid is to die for.
Hands down - Lee Chinese right in the Junction. We always take friends there both in Seattle and out of town and everyone loves it.
Try the 9 flavor beef, not fried, stirfryed. You\'ll love it
ok this is out of west seattle but the Seattle Tofu Company on Jackson near the Gais Bakery outlet is hands down my favorite place ever!!! and i am asian and have been all over seattle looking for good chinese restaurants! dont let the name scare you! they do have other options!! they serve dim sum made on the spot! and have chow fun and congee!!!
if your looking for in west seattle....goodluck! Also a whole in the wall place is the schuan (ok i have no idea how to spell) located next to the green leaf in china town does the best noodles in the world! made while you watch and they make there own potstickers and small dragon buns while you watch! or the place on Beacon Hill called the Dim Sum house. both places look run down on the inside but you would be surprised at how great there food is!!! i almost guarentee you would like it!!!
Wah Ku at 136 & 1st in Burien, been there for 45?years, ate there as a kid. They know most everyone (regulars) by first name. Not cheap, but good, and they make their own egg foo young, yummmmm. Heard their kids dont want to carry on with the restaurant, so not sure how much longer it will be around.
The Emperor's Garden in Kent, by Ikea in the Great Wall Mall is fabu! Great dim sum and trust me I am an expert on it.
