I'm looking for a responsible, baby-loving, young person who is interested in working as a Mothers' Helper a few hours a week. The job would entail playing with (possibly feeding, taking for a walk, etc.) my 9 month old cutie-patootie daughter while I worked on some chores around the house. The schedule is very flexible (ideally starting with 2-4 hours per week) and it would pay $5/hour. We live on Beach Drive about 1/2 mile north of the intersection of 48th and Beach, and this person would need to have their own transportation to/from my home. Please drop me a note if interested: meg.gluckman@gmail.com

    Thanks! Meg

If you were looking to hire a 13-14 year old neighbor to entertain your child while you are around, $5.00 might be appropriate. Anyone who has to drive or take the bus to your home would lose half their hourly wage just to pay for transportation, whether the bus (I think it's $2.25 each way) or gas in the tank.
We pay a responsible, CPR-certified babysitter between $10-$15/hr depending on the requirements of each particular job.

  4. Babysitting in 1975 was closer to $1, not $5.

  5. Bonnie, 1984 then. Megabucks, consider at least minimum wage; higher for a qualified candidate who will care for your child properly.

  6. In 1984 (around) I made $1.50 an hour babysitting and I was excited to get that! I was a young teenager. Maybe 1975 was 75 cents or 50 cents an hour?

I think my friend with kids who are mother's helpers make at least $8 an hour. Not sure about their transportation. Oh, and the $8 an hour is dictated by their Mother.

I had to chuckle at the irony of the poster's username and the offered rate of pay.

Have to agree with you there. But those with Mega bucks do tend to be cheap. LOL!!!
