   Just wondering if there's a backstory to Heavey not seeking the endorsement of the 34th District Dems. Anyone?

   Odd move and referred to as a "terrible mistake" by some of his supporters.

   I guess you will have to ask him.

   The 34th endorsement process was changed this year to make dual endorsement harder (if not impossible) and the nomination process was designed to produce only one candidate from the beginning.

   Heavey actually came around my neighborhood a week or so ago passing out flyers. Even though he ignored my No Soliciting sign, I was still impressed with him going door to door to campaign...that's dedication IMO!

   Right now, the most community-engaged candidate is McElroy, who actually shows up at important community meetings and sticks around and listens. I no longer have an official political affiliation, but anyone who strongly supports public campaign finance reform for all levels of elections, a federal initiative law, getting rid of the electoral college, primary campaign reform, and one-person-one-vote districting -- they get my vote almost no matter what else they stand for.
   .
   The reason? There will be no reform without moving toward a true democracy in America. If you think the people rule in the US, you are so, so, wrong. The system is set up for a republic of the powerful (the monied)... not for a true democracy.

   The reason I withdrew from the 34th District proceeding was due to a rule change (as Ken points out) that procluded nothing more than a dual endorsement. I knew my support was in the bottom third so in an act of pragmatism I withdrew from the proceedings.

   Since, I am proud to stay that I have been endorsed by multiple democratic organization since (KCYD, WAYD).

   I am a Democrat thru and thru and fully support the Democratic platform. Here is a link to my King County Democrats Questionnaire:
